Thanks to all who came to the Drupal 101 Workshop at http://theskiff.org in Brighton last Thursday, we had 17 people turn up!
I was quite nervous and there was such a wide range of experience levels I decided to start by going through the basics then onto a few more detailed subjects, like the SEO-Friendly URLs which I've just added a wiki page for so you can see what I did.
Thanks also to the lady who reminded me after two hours that we could all do with a break! This was the first time I've done anything of the sort so will remember for next time, don't kill everyone lol ;) It was also good after the break to step back a bit and answer people's questions on what we'd gone over in the first half.
I look forward to meeting you again sometime, we'll be back at our regular slot on the second Wednesday of the month along with the Farm freelancers meeting at the Hampton Arms (unless they change venue!), although we'll be starting a couple of hours earlier than they do at 6pm so we can have a couple of hours of questions/demos/etc.
I am considering making this a fortnightly meetup - i.e. every 2nd and 4th Weds - what are people's thoughts on this?
Thanks again for all coming along, do post to the forum here with any Drupal questions you may have and we'll do our best to help!

Hi Steve, I'm really pleased
Hi Steve,
I'm really pleased it went well on wednesday - unfortunately, I am unable to make wednesdays, but would definately try to make it if one meeting was on another day?
Best wishes,
Ian
Wednesdays
Hi Ian,
It was actually Thursday we had the tutorial. Obviously any day we pick is not going to please everybody - which day would you find preferable?
Days/Times
Hi Steve.
Thanks so much for all your insight on Thursday - it was precisely the kind of introduction I needed. I'm now chomping at the bit so to speak and would be well up for attending more sessions.
I have to say that Thursdays would be better for me too.
I'm a little confused about what time you suggesting it would start. 3pm like last time or 6pm as suggested in your post? I don't finish work until 1730 so the latter would be better for me.
Thanks again,
Dan (bloke with beard that asked way too many questions).
Thanks!
Thanks Dan, glad to hear it was of some help and that you're enthused!
OK, sounds like we do second Weds at the Freelancers Farm and fourth Thursdays somewhere else (the Farm is only on Weds), perhaps both evening meets.
So that means our next meeting would be next Thursday, 23rd somewhere not sure where. Perhaps The West Hill just behind the train station up the hill a little, 6pm. Does that sound good?
Thursdays
Hi Steve,
Sorry for my earlier mistake - and appologies if you thought I was trying to be difficult - I was trying to say that maybe if you do two a month, they should perhaps be on different days, but my bank holiday weekend must have court up with me!
Anyhow, Thursdays are normally ok for me - although last Thursday wasn't which must have been how I got my wires crossed! I can basically do any day apart from Wednesday and every other Thursday!
Many thanks for your efforts though, I think it's an excellent idea - and despite using Drupal for a couple of years now, there is much I know that I should know about, yet don't!
Best wishes,
Ian
No worries ;)
Hehe no worries, just had many bad experiences trying to grow groups, first time I did it years back every single person couldn't make any of the days I suggested ;)
I'm thinking maybe mixing it up then - once a month we meet at the Freelancers Farm on Weds eves then once a month we meet somewhere else on a different day, will have a think about it
Great Stuff!
Thought you did a great job on Thursday Steve. Very engaging and informative. I now have loads of new modules I need to go and investigate. Thanks for all the great pointers and am sure I'll have a whole load more questions ready for the next meeting :)
Thanks!
Thanks Caroline, glad you found it helpful!
Just about to post about the next meeting, hope to see you down at one sometime soon,
Steve
Thanks for the workshop
Hi Steve,
just wanted to say thanks for the workshop, I thought you did a really good job in cramming in so much into the time.
Joe
Thanks ;)
Thanks Joe, wasn't sure how to play the day but hopefully managed to cover some basic stuff and some of the more advanced 'tricks'!
More to come soon...
Great session Steve
Hey Steve, that was a superb session you ran last Thursday. i should think that all the budding Drupal rocketeers (including me) that attended are now firmly off the launch pad !
Unfortunately I will miss the next meet as I am off to chase fish in sunny climes. But I look forward to the next meeting I can attend.
Thanks again :-)
Thanks ;)
Thank you for coming down and supporting the event!
Have a great holiday, take lots of those underwater pics and I hope to see a slideshow upon your return!
