Hi Guys!
I'g like to get your opinion re: Green Hosting.
I was browsing around Drupal.org and saw that Green Geeks is highly recommended by them and that this hosting fully supports Drupal.
I'm also attracted to the movement to Eco Friendly technologies.
The thing is I've been using bluehost for a while now.
Has anyone tried out greengeeks yet? What's your review? Thanks!

I have used Greengeeks on a couple of websites and I'd recommend them to others. Very good customer service, prompt resolution of tickets (though I only did this only once) and, so far, no unannounced downtime.

I've had problems with other hosting before (hostingrails) which I had intense problems with downtime at least once every week.
Nice to know that greengeeks has good uptime percentage.

i tried them but I left within 2 mos. because their plans limit the number of domains you can put per account.
all hosts either a.) limit the no. of domains or b.) limit your bandwidth. I had a lot of domains I was trying to grow or host for friends and I needed to keep them active (and not just parked), so I had to leave greenhost.
hindi ko rin tuloy nalaman kung ok yung performance nila. I wrote above in case you might be in same situation as me (many domains).

Which hosting do you use now?
hostgator. I have 1 VPS and 1
hostgator. I have 1 VPS and 1 Shared Account and like you I also resell space to pay for my own hosting. It is a good way for a dev to learn about the technicalities of hosting as well as running and supporting a hosting biz plus you host your own projects of course. And of course you earn along the way.
hostgator support is ok, but there are a lot of others just as good. I have to admit i'm easy to please, as long as there are no major downtimes and support replies relatively quickly I'm happy. Moving from host to host is a giant headache.
Greengeeks is all about the green
They come across so nice at the beginning. Truth is they are a bunch of liars. To add injury to insult they serious limit your your server resources so if you want to host a site with as little as 200 visitors per day be prepared to get an upsell on resources or live with server errors due to the limitations you have. I've built dozens of Drupal sites, hosted with many different providers, and let me tell you that these guys are, BY FAR, the worst. As far as support, if you like canned responses and a footer with an ad for an upsell then you'll love these guys. And finally, if you want to back up and move from these goofballs, be prepared... they have disabled backups in cpanel. What a colossal joke!!!
