Hey guys,
It was great to meet you all at the BoF. I know the issues we all run into is gathering content from the churches we work with. My manager just found a solution that looks awesome to get into instead of sending them an online spreadsheet. It's very user friendly. Check it out: http://www.gathercontent.com/

Great TOOL!
Really great tool find. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, thanks for posting this.
This does look ideal for churches. Unfortunately, you still need to get people to write and produce the content. I found that to be a challenge in our church.
Looks interesting, but...
Seems like possible double work. Posting in this 3rd party to "organize" and gather the data, means that it must then be pulled over to the CMS used. Is there an export feature that could be utilized to then import into the Drupal (or other CMS) setup?
Am I ready it wrong?
Very nice idea, though...
Possible double work
That was my wife's first thought and I think it's valid. On the other hand, most people create content away from a site and cut and paste anyway. I think it will be easier for untrained people to use this as a data entry tool, then to add content directly to Drupal, so it might speed up the initial content collection.
Also, you can set up a page structure to match a specific Content Type, such as a staff profile.
It's free for now, I wonder what the price will be.
Thanks for the feedback...
Hey guys,
I'm James, the founder of GatherContent.
Interesting discussion about the potential of double work. You are absolutely right in terms of having to cut and paste copy from our system to yours, you could however use our API and export it directly into your Drupal set-up.
We don't have a module available for Drupal yet, but if you have the technical know-how, you could build one yourself. That would definitely get rid of the cut & paste issue.
If you want to ask me any questions, pop me an email, james@gathercontent.com :)
Thanks!

Workflow?
Not to pick on a new venture where I'm unfamiliar... BUT...
Scanning the 'features' pages for GatherContent, portions of it look suspiciously like a workflow. Enter a draft page, allow comments and edits by others, then eventually publish. And of course, using Drupal's workflow module removes the double-work problem.
Unfortunately, I'm as ignorant of Drupal's workflow module as I am of GatherContent.
Anyone familiar enough with the workflow module and GatherContent that they can compare and contrast the two?
Json
Note that there IS json integration, which is huge. This potentially means (I'd think) that double work could be avoided by pulling in content directly to Drupal.
I'd envision a GatherContent module that could pull in pages on demand.
Using Feeds module, I helped
Using Feeds module, I helped integrate a Drupal-powered newspaper website with a similar team-content-collection/management platform for news publications, NewsEngin. It really did help their workflow to move the content creation and development process to an external, optimized-for-the-particular-audience platform, and it made their process of moving content to both print and web easier.
I would imagine that if a Church manages content for a bulletin, magazine, website, etc., something like GatherContent would be helpful. If a church only maintains a blog, it probably wouldn't be as much. A Drupal module, or at least a tutorial of how to use Feeds and/or Migrate to get content into Drupal from GatherContent, would probably help a lot of people nervous about the integration to be less so.
Just wanted to chime in here because I love GatherContent.
Yes, you can replicate a lot of the functionality using the Workflow module, but I use it for non-Drupal related content like email campaigns. So if you don't want to use a Drupal site to manage non-Drupal content/workflow, or just don't want to deal with Workflow for whatever reason(s), it's very helpful. I'm hoping someone will make use of their API soon to make a Drupal module for exporting, then this will only get better.
