The meeting will begin in the conference room at NJIT in Fenster Hall near computer lab 160. The group may split into two groups during presentations with one staying in the conference room and the other moving to the computer lab. Overhead projectors are available.
Parking will be in Lot 7 or the garage.
Remember to signup with real name field filled in if you want to reserve a parking spot.
If the signup has closed, then please contact the organizers.

Consider moving the meeting
As discussed in another thread, I won't be able to attend a meeting in Newark. It's too far away, too hard to get to, and parking is not convenient at all. Others feel the same.
Please let us know how this April 11 meeting goes, what the attendance is like, and please poll those attendees about the possibility of moving the meeting to a more convenient NNJ location. My offer of organizing meeting space in Upper Montclair stands. Let me know if it will be needed.

I'm sorry that you won't be able to make it.
If parking is the deal-breaker for you, then perhaps you are not awhare that NJIT provides onsite gaurded parking for the meetup attendees.
As far as distance is concerned, I come from the Jersey side of the Rockland Border. The differnece in traveling time, Newark vs. Upper Montclair is nine minutes. Others come from further still. There are bus stops across the street, and offers have been made (including one from me) to pick people up from the train station and take them back.
I'm sure that it will be discussed, but I take issue with your caricturizing Upper Montclair as "more convenient". For who? There are four people on the thread who would like to move. That is hardly a consensus, unless you discount the votes of everyone else in the community. Our last Playday was standing room only.
You always have the option of starting an Upper Montclair group. A new group would be welcomed with open arms. Heck I might even attend both on occasion.
I know your offer comes from a kind and generous place, we as a group however, have not yet had an opportunity to fully evaluate it and come to a consensus one way or the other.

Sorry I missed the last few meetups, so I'm not sure what was discussed as far as topics for the next few meetups. I can do a 20 min presentation about the questions a lead or PM needs to get answered during a Drupal project. I can also do a Drupal 7 case study on a massive bilingual migration for a site delivering over 30 million page views a month.
Also, I work in NYC and will be parking in Secaucus. I can take a few from there or drive a few to either Newark train station afterwards.

I cannot attend a meetup in
I cannot attend a meetup in Upper Montclair without a ride. I live in West New York, I don't have a car, public transportation to Newark is convenient, particularly since I mostly work in NYC, the 108 bus from Port Authority goes right there, and gets me within a mile of my home on the way back.
The NNJ meetup's future could be enhanced by attracting more "New York" Drupaliens like me who happen to live in NJ, like mdorman on this thread. I guarantee a meetup in Upper Montclair will not attract anybody who works in NYC. Newark is also more convenient for those in Central NJ, as we get attendance from there as well. NJIT is a great location with parking. Not to mention the $4 beers in the student union.
I have been accused of being a valuable member of the NNJ meetup community. I do not know camwing, if he wants to have a DUG in Montclair he can certainly have one there. Hijacking is an unfortunate phenomenon in OS communities, and please do not try to hijack this group.
That's my opinion, if camwing or others advocating a change of venue want to actually come to the group and present a case, we can discuss it further. Since this is a physical group, I do not think debating it on forum threads is appropriate.
I could present a talk at this meetup about a D6 Pressflow publishing workflow I am configuring with 18 states and 8 roles, mostly using the Workflow module, CCK fields, Rules, and Triggers/Actions with Tokens.

Whoah, nobody's hijacking anything. It appears there's been some misunderstanding.
In a previous thread, some people discussed the idea of moving the NNJ meeting to another location that worked better for some attendees. I offered space in Upper Montclair, and left the decision to the group organizers.

If enough people express interest in another NNJ DUG that can better accommodate northern Essex county, Morris County and Passaic County then then Upper Montclair is a great central location for a meeting and a second group could be formed.
I'm sorry there's been confusion and misunderstanding. I can try to make it to the NNJ meetings at NJIT but I'll be out of town on April 11 and as I've said previously, NJIT is not convenient for me.

The group has been meeting in Newark for a while, I already noted benefits to keeping it in this location.
I would be unable to attend a meeting in Upper Montclair, but there may be enough interest to to have a DUG there. We would rather be allies than competitors.

Randal - you always have tons to add at every meeting. Folks can learn a lot from your expertise... I don't think your message was terse; I hope it encouraged folks to attend the NJIT meet-up and learn from the wealth of knowledge we have.

Hi,
I host the NNJ meetup at NJIT. I'm somewhat ambivalent about moving it; however, I need to know if where it will be next week.
I'm planning to bring my class to the meeting and will present on jquery and Drupal theming.
We need another presenter... maybe someone about Drupal.

The meetup will be taking place as usual at NJIT. Matt Dorman will be presenting at about 7:30 for approximately 20 Mins. I'll put you in for the second slot.

Anyone interested in attending the NJIT meetup next week, please sign up or let me know if you need parking. ALSO - if you are taking the train, you can take the Newark City Subway ONLY 3 STOPS, and be let off at the NJIT campus. I am willing to walk to the subway stop and walk folks to the meeting location, for those who have never been here before. Additionally, IF YOU WORK IN NYC, you can let me know if you want to park your car here for the day and attend the meet-up. I will arrange parking for you... you can take the train in to NYC for the day and back to Newark in the evening.
NJIT is a convenient meeting spot with a great bar.
After the meet-up, we will grab drinks at the NJIT Pub. Where else can you get Sam Adams on draft for $4.00?
