During this last Meetup (Wed., March 28), there was some discussion about cloud hosting options for Drupal. Gary started with discussion of Pantheon and some of their announcements (including a $25 per month "personal" option). There was some mention of Acquia's Dev Cloud, and I mentioned that there was another provider with more of an à la carte cloud backend (where you can choose the cloud provider, but they set up the managed Drupal hosting), but I couldn't remember the name of the company.

Well, the company's name is Standing Cloud, and I just got an invite this morning for a webinar about their offerings, which you can check out here. They also have a free 60 trial at standingcloud.com/drupal with the promo code drupalcon2012 (until June 30th). I don't yet know how they compare technically with the other options, but I talked to them for a while at DrupalCon, and their prices hosted on Rackspace started at just under $30.

BitNami Cloud Hosting for Drupal

bitnami's picture

Hi,

I wanted to mention that we (BitNami) offer free images for the Amazon and Azure Clouds. Together with the free tier for both of those services you can get free online hosting for one year with total control (i.e. you get root access to the machine). You can find more information at http://bitnami.org/stack/drupal

Cheers

If you want "The Best"Web Hosting site for Drupal (CMS) 7. The choice is easy.
Either One of these two companies:

http://www.getpantheon.com/
http://www.acquia.com/

Unless your looking for the Cheapest, these two companies will provide more than you need as a single developer, or enough for Huge Enterprise Sites like http://www.billboard.com or http://www.weather.com , Academic Institutions Like Arizona State University, or UC Berkeley, or large media sites like New Republic. or http://www.warnerbros.com

Dries Buytaert pretty much covered it in his explanation.
Varnish (HTTP accelerator
APC
redis, or MMCash
Drupal Tuned Stack
Better Drupal Focused Support
One Click Installs
Elastic Resources - Scaleable
Uptime Guarante's
Developer Tools Multidev | Pantheon
Free Dev and Test Servers
Why we built Pantheon with Containers instead of Virtual Machines

There is more than enough info on both sites, But if you want to focus on your website, and not infrastructure, try them both out..they are FREE for dev sites, and the bottom tier is not much more expensive than traditional hosting.

Pantheon - $25
Acquia - $99
