Windsprints
For the month of April, we hosted "office hours" for the mobile initiative on Sundays, but attendance was poor. While discussing it with JohnAlbin on IRC, I thought maybe initiatives could combine office hours and get a synergistic benefit.
Then I also had a brief chat with xjm about the nature of core contribution mentoring times and how they are not the same as what is needed for core initiatives. Core initiatives focus on new development and tasks are sometimes larger and/or not as well defined. However, the issues for core initiatives would still benefit from regularly scheduled mini-sprints.
So, I am offering to host core initiative wind-sprints once a week. If initiative leads have time and inclination, it would help to tag issues appropriate to windsprints. Otherwise there would be no requirement for them to be in attendance any more than Dries is in core office hours. Obviously we'd love to have participation tho!
Just trying to get a better idea of what time would give us the most participants here.
Thanks!
Clarification...
Windsprints in athletic terms are when you sprint a given distance, walk back and do it again. In our case, these would be like 2 hour mini-sprints.
Also, I am not dead-set on any names, so if you'd prefer a different one, I'm open to suggestions. Some which have been bantered about in IRC: core initiative mini-sprints, inter-initiative dashes, Coalition of Initiatives (COI), and Multi Initiative Office Hours (MIOH).

One thought, which I said in IRC but can post here too.
Rather than try and come up with a new 2-hour chunk of time for people to find space for in their calendars, another idea is to co-locate these mini-sprints with one of the Core Mentoring Hours slots.
Rationale:
It seems pretty win-win to me, but I'm assuming those specific time slots were chosen for a reason, so this might be a horrible idea. :) Just a thought.
Hmm...
I had not thought of some of these things @webchick. Actually JohnAlbin suggested it when we were discussing the mini-sprints idea in the mobile initiative. I dismissed it immediately because we are sometimes already overwhelmed during office hours. Well, I am overwhelmed. XJM is, as always a model of grace and patience.
It really had not occurred to me that it would have the potential to add more expert Drupalists to the fray and maybe make things easier. I'm not sure if I'm quite +1 on it yet, but I'm open to it if the timing is best for everyone.
Also I picked those time slots in a misguided attempt to find a time where everyone might be awake. Turns out, that may actually just make for bad timing in ALL the zones. Other than core mentoring, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the most difficult for me, but otherwise I'm totally open to other suggestions!
Unlikely
It's really hard for me to commit to a 2 hour block of time during the week due to work. The odds of me being able to do so consistently for WSCCI are sadly low.
Also, I'm in Central time. That means only one of the above options happens while I'm awake. For anyone on the west coast, they'll miss every one of them.
Ditto
I'm in Portland and unfortunately none of the above hours is really doable.
I'm happy with anything after
I'm happy with anything after 9am Central on Fridays. Really options should probably be Pacific based if we're catering to the North American Continental dwellers.
Fridays 9 am Central, (10 am Eastern, 2pm UTC)
If I could add another time, 9am Central would work for me too. +1 EclipseGC's comment for Fridays 9 am Central, (10 am Eastern, 2pm UTC). :)
How about 1 pm Eastern (5 pm
How about 1 pm Eastern (5 pm UTC)? On Fridays?
Oh, MUCH better. :) That's
Oh, MUCH better. :) That's actually when my call day ends normally and it's after 9am PDT, so +100 from me.
