Part of my company's site redesign involves adding some functionality that was first assumed to be a Flash project. Basically we want to rotate through various "solutions" we offer, allowing easy additions as we develop more microsites. Rather than contact the flash developer every time we want to add a new item, we'd rather it update dynamically. The display is nothing complicated really, just a title & image that would link to the microsite, as well as an indicator in the corner showing how many total items there are.
Before we search for a flash developer I thought I'd see if this is something that the Views Rotator or Carousel module is capable of doing. After watching a Carousel video podcast I'm fairly confident it'll do most of this, just not sure about the "indicator" aspect.
I'll attach a comp to illustrate what we're envisioning. Any input would be much appreciated, thanks!

not Views Rotator
I'm using Views Rotator on a couple of different sites (http://www.sustainablebusinessleader.org is one) and it is great for displaying one thing at a time - at least currently, it will not show multiple items at once.
I have not looked into the other options much, I'd really like to know what you end up using. Some starting points:

Thanks so much for the Comparison of Modules link, I ended up testing a few of those.
Dynamic Display Block seemed promising but I couldn't figure out how to configure it and the documentation wasn't helpful at all. Views Slideshow seems to be pretty popular, but I need next/prev arrows and it doesn't seem to have that. Slider was easy to set up, but it's only vertical and I need horizontal. Views Carousel would've been great but I couldn't get it to work once it got to be a certain width, and my comment/request for help went unanswered and I'd rather use something that's still being supported.
So no luck thus far -- I'll go through a couple more and hopefully find something that combines everything I need. Who knew it'd be so hard to get simple functionality combined in one module?

Did you find a solution for this? I need same kind of thing for a site and can't find a module that does all these; especially the indicators. Will be thankful if you could tell as to how you did it.
We ended up using Views
We ended up using Views Carousel (http://drupal.org/project/viewscarousel), however it was very time-consuming to get the CSS configured just right (or else scrolling wouldn't happen, items would get cut off, etc.) and any time I changed the number of items shown it required still more CSS tweaking. Recently we decided it was not worth the time and just switched to a standard view.

Thanks for replying. I decided to try views carousel even before getting your reply. But I am still not done doing all the CSS. Its really strange that there is no good stable module for carousel with views integration. I hope someone will come up with one.

I agree, it's such a common element anymore but all the modules that provide the functionality are insanely complicated to configure. Hopefully someone will fill this need soon!
