If you’re willing to help organise the 2013 London Drupal Camp, please comment on this thread with details on how you would like to GET INVOLVED.

Having spoken to Josh from Chapter 3 about how they organise DrupalCamps in the San Francisco Bay Area we've decided to follow his advice and have the following format for Drupal Camp London 2013:

1) Publish details of – and invite the community to – regular monthly meetings
2) Publish all meeting minutes publicly and invite feedback
3) To keep things moving forward there will be a steering committee of 10 – 12 volunteers

The start of an ambitious and open London Drupal Camp, designed to engage the whole of the UK is starting up. So far a few people have knocked ideas about over beers and now it’s being let out the bag for everyone to get involved.

Volunteers are sought to help with a variety of roles to make this a truly exciting Drupalcamp. Many hands make light work so please don’t be shy in putting your name forward no matter where you are based.

DrupalCamp London is initially being organised by the following: Alasdair Cowie-fraser (Code Enigma), Ben Wilding (Cameron & Wilding), Darren Mothersele, Dan Blows (TechHub) Edward Davies (BrightLemon), Farez Rahman (Red Key Digital), Hedley Smith (Agile Collective), Jonathan Smith (Catch Digital), Jon Hume (Catch Digital), Nikki Tyson (Acquia), Sinead hunt (io1), Tim Deeson (Deeson).

Looking forward to this

hedley's picture

Looking forward to this already! We've had some great discussions already about the camp.

We (Agile Collective) will be fully supporting the camp and I'll be helping out organising the first meeting to discuss the web development. This camp should be a really good way to bring together the London Drupal community and reach out the community at large to promote Drupal and hopefully lead to more collaboration.

Drop us an email and come and join the party! I'll be around at DrupalCon Munich so if you see an Agile Collective T-Shirt come and say hi!

Looks good

brightlemon's picture

BrightLemon's also fully supporting Drupal Camp London 2013; and I (Ed) will be organising the first meeting about Sponsorship and Venue & Logistics. If you can offer your services, time or knowledge then please join the organising the team!

See you Munich!

Happy to support

We (Deeson Online) would be be happy to get involved in marketing and comms / design, branding and possibly finance or events management. Look forward to seeing you at the Munich BoF.

Commerce guys is happy to help out, can someone tweet me the bof, I can't see it on the schedule.
@commercejohn

Nothing booked yet - we'll try and sort something soon

Kazillian's picture

Hi John and community,

We've not got one booked, it's a recent idea. We'll try and sort something just before or after the bof about a uk drupal association, makes sense as the same people will probably be interested.

I'm, Ben Wilding from Cameron and Wilding, currently down as secretary for finance and pm teams so will be arranging the first couple of meetings for those two teams. We certainly need more volunteers, much like Droes has just mentioned :)

See you soon, we'll try and post an update soon.

The schedule's looking pretty packed

Kazillian's picture

Looks like the uk society bof is just a quick session in amongst a lot of other Good stuff. How about an informal get together tonight with a few beers just to help build the momentum?

Planned BOF

Edward Davies's picture

I've scheduled in a BOF for tomorrow at 1:00pm - http://munich2012.drupal.org/content/drupalcamp-london-get-involved. It can just be an informal chat about our progress, it will also allow people to get involved if they wish. An informal beer would be good as well.

I think some people (me

I think some people (me included) have been confusing it with this one? http://munich2012.drupal.org/content/do-we-need-drupal-uk-society

Hey all, Sorry I didn't make

adshill's picture

Hey all,

Sorry I didn't make it to the London event BoF in Munich - I was kinda running around a lot! I DID get to the UK Society/Association one thankfully!

I am really up for getting involved from up in the North East in the London event however I can.

Obviously I'm kinda restricted in what I can do up here but would be happy to take on a role around trying to engage other communities and any online promotional work that can be done. It would be great if meetings in London are minuted with comments allowed to be made on them - if this is feasible - so that the UK community can get as much involved as the can and want to.

I've recently been privileged to be given the DrupalCon Global Volunteer Co-ordinator role too which means that if there is stuff regarding volunteers I can certainly bring my knowledge and on-site probably my time as well.

For info, we've got a mailing list of around 70 members in the North East so I'll try and put this thread around in the next mail out.

Cheers and looking forward to updates.

Hi Adam, That sounds great,

aburrows's picture

Hi Adam,

That sounds great, the crux of the BoF was to work out what and who can will do what. The important sponsorship of alcohol is sorted already by me ;).
Promotion is very important for an event like this, and we will be minuting all the meetings I believe.

Kind Regards

Alex

So perhaps we should have

aburrows's picture

So perhaps we should have meetings on irc or google hangout soon?

Somerset now knows about Drupal Camp London

Stefan van Hooft's picture

Thank you Alex Burrows for 'coming in' and spreading the word about Drupal Camp London this evening at the Drupal Somerset meet up. It was great to hear about the preparations and get some insight on the website development.

The work you are all doing is great and no doubt the Camp will be amazing.
Keep up the good work.

The camp also has a mention in the Meet up notebook: http://www.drupalsomerset.co.uk/meet-up-november-8th-2012

If anybody of the organisation wants to give an update at one of the future Drupal Somerset meet ups just let me know and we'll set up a Skype or Hangout.

Happy to Help

technotim2010's picture

Hi

Happy to help in any way I can. Have some Events experience as well as Drupal Experience and knowledge and as anyone who knows me will testify I can communicate, I tentatively put some feelers out for a speaker just now, someone well known in Silicon Roundabout with a track record of getting Drupal sites built.

Will do anything I can to help.

Oh and take Dan King seriously he does know the drupal market in London really well (and isn't the normal run of the mill recruiter)

Regards

Tim

Next meeting

dellad's picture

Hi Tim, it's great that you'd like to get involved!

We will need around 20 volunteers to help the "on the day" setup and running the camp; it would be great to have you on board, especially given that you are familiar with both drupal and events. Our next meeting isn't until January 7th (6pm at City University), but hope you can make it and look forward to meeting you then. I'm helping with the overall organization and logistics, so feel free to drop me a line before then.

Cheers, Della
