The handbook page could use some updating, then. Check out the Project page and you'll see that there is indeed a release for D6. We're using it for KHUM.
I doubt anyone's started updating it for D7 yet, but considering that D7's release is still several months away, I wouldn't worry about it.

Handbook page is now tagged as 6.x. That page needs some love, I might take a look at it later.
As far as 7.x, I know that Andrew's main focus lately has been files and images.
I also know that a lot of things that I would like to see in a 6.x-3x or 7.x version of Station depend on the CCK multigroup, which is still very beta.
So to answer your question, 6.x-2.0-unstable3 is usable, just not when updating from 5.x (see #471866: Failed Station Schedule Update). Which doesn't really make it very usable. But please test it!
yeah i've been busy trying to get stuff into core ahead of the code freeze and haven't had any paying work with the station module. thankfully folks like tim have contributed a bunch of fixes though.
Thanks for the quick replies and Handbook update. I did see the 6.x versions on the Project page, marked either Unstable or in Development.
At Coast Community Radio we're just starting to explore alternatives to the current hosting solution. With Drupal 7 code freeze approaching, we'll probably bypass 6.x, and I've begun testing with 7.x daily snapshots.
I might just piece together Station's component modules, however beta they may be; or is there a rough time-line for a D7 development version of Station?
