Freelancers group

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I have created a group specifically for Freelancers to introduce themselves and post their availability. This is the other side of the coin for the Drupal jobs board. My feeling is that there is not enough promotion of freelancing and telecommuting in the Drupal community. At least not as it once was (circa D5 -D6 ) before when you could find knowledgeable individuals willing to take on short term contracts.

Also there are coders out there looking for work but they tend to get lost in the noise of other groups or are not allowed to post to some groups when hunting for work.

So if you are a freelancer or a group moderator, place your job hunting posts to /freelancers.

Lastly I am creating a format for freelancers to use when posting availability and could use input from those looking for freelancers. What info would you like to see initially ie. location, availability, portfolio?

Great idea. I have had that thought too. The "Drupalers For Hire" page is overrun with agency listings. (Seems inappropriate since there is a Marketplace page for company listings.) I think that this freelancer list should be for individuals only (it can linkback to other lists). Clients often are interested in hiring an individual rather than an agency.

Exactly, freelancing is a profession in it's own right and needs to be treated differently from small businesses. I am doing a timetracker module now and will later connect to the toggl.com API for those that do jobs on the run.
