Registration is open for DrupalCamp Ohio 2012

mradcliffe's picture

Drupal Camp Ohio 2012 is back this year for a two-day event from Friday, November 30th to Saturday, December 1st hosted by the Ohio State University at the 4-H Center. If you haven't already heard, registration is open and we're still accepting session submissions and sponsorships.

Joining us as key note speakers are Jeff Robbins from Lullabot and George Demet from Palantir. We've got a Lunch & Learn to share your case studies hosted by Crown Partners, extended training-focused sessions Friday morning, and an all-day "Site Building with Drupal 7" training hosted by Doug Vann. Oh, and of course the most important announcement: there WILL be coffee & tea all day (or head's will roll).

We've got an awesome camp lined up and you can make it even better by joining us on the eve of the Drupal 8 feature freeze.

Is there information on the DrupalCamp Ohio site about the all-day "Site Building with Drupal 7" training? I can't find any.

I am sure Doug will update

I am sure Doug will update this when he gets back from Drupal Camp Atlanta.

Site Building With Drupal 7

mradcliffe's picture

Information is now available about the all-day Site Building with Drupal 7 session.

Event is listed on LinkedIn...

I searched on LinkedIn and there wasn't a page so I added one... Might help in getting the word out!

(Unfortunately it now shows me as an organizer which I obviously am not but however..)

Session Suggestion

I would love to see a session covering the how-tos of upgrading a site from Drupal 6 to 7...

Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 upgrade

darrellulm's picture

Yeah, that is the topic I am considering, but I just want to have time to get a decent presentation completed before I commit to it. Working on the weekends with the Drush upgrade method which can speed up (some of) the manual steps.

Anyone else interested in D6->D7 upgrade?

Thanks!

Great topic!

I recently followed Moshe's instructions (https://www.acquia.com/blog/use-drush-upgrade-drupal-6-drupal-7) to upgrade a copy of a site I want to upgrade. It worked pretty well, and may work for you, too, if your site doesn't have too much custom code and the contrib modules you use have an upgrade path. I'll need to spend a bit more time going over the feedback it gave me before I upgrade the live site, but I think it's a big help.

The drush site-upgrade command can be downloaded from http://drupal.org/project/drush_sup

Thanks and there is a session

Thanks @fen, and there is a sessions for Ohio D.C. 2012 (although I will not be presenting it),

Looks like it covers many aspects of an upgrade.

I'm interested in D6->D7

Intranets and CRMs Built Using Drupal

Drupal has traditionally struggled in the area of native CRM, or Contact Relation Management, software. Proprietary web-based solutions like SalesForce and SugarCRM integrate with Drupal but are expensive, and CiviCRM, while powerful, is not native to Drupal and is purpose-built in ways that make it difficult to integrate into an existing Drupal installation.

Hey Andreas, I think you might have posted that in the wrong thread... this is the DrupalCamp Ohio thread, which is off topic for our local meetup :)

Places to stay in CBUS?

pzula's picture

Anyone recommend any hotel nearby the venue?

The most convenient hotels

mradcliffe's picture

The most convenient hotels are off of Olentangy River Road. The Blackwell is probably the more upscale of those.

Somewhat convenient and newer is the Hyatt Place in Grandview Heights, which is just down the road. The hotels downtown are nice, but not as conveniently located to the OSU campus. However those are close to the happening areas of town.

Least convenient are the hotels by the airport, the Easton area, the Polaris (Lewis Center) area, Dublin, or Hilliard.

Cheapest would probably be the hotels around Dublin-Grandville Rd & i71, which are not the best quality although not bad at all.

If anybody is really desperate and needs a place to stay
