Activity & Outreach

Greater Los Angeles Drupal has a growing membership, features between 5-10 events a month and sees an overall monthly attendance of between 80-120 attendees.

Our group has members and a distributed team of organizers, volunteers and sponsors all over the Greater Los Angeles Area. The frequency of our professional events and social gatherings are the "glue" that help keep our group strong and healthy.

Members attend our events and make them better with their participation. Presenters share their knowledge and excitement on subjects they're interested in. Sponsors help provide technical, financial and organizing support.

We have a large mailing list through the use of our sign-in sheets, various websites and signups at special events, including our Drupal Job Fairs and Drupal Design Camp LA and the Greater Los Angeles Area Drupal Camp (GLADCamp) conferences.

Values, Goals & Purpose

Our values and purpose are documented elsewhere, such as in our Governance Policy and Group Mission pages.

Drupal Groups Site

Our Drupal Groups site is where a large portion of our online infrastructure, event planning, user support, user group discussion, etc. takes place. It is it http://groups.drupal.org/node/219129 (sometimes referred to as "GDO/GLAD") and is organized and moderated by its group organizers listed at https://groups.drupal.org/node/219129/og-panel/2

Having a site on Drupal Groups connects us with the larger Drupal community. The Drupal Groups website is run by a worldwide team of volunteers and is not owned or controlled by any one person.

Meetup.com Group

We also promote our user group events on Meetup.com, a paid service that is organized and moderated by several Greater Los Angeles Drupal organizers:

Video Projectors

Raffle Prizes

Several of our organizers and volunteers regularly solicit promotional items from sponsors and collect raffle prizes to give away at our events. The raffle prizes include books, magazines, discount codes, DVDs, seats to professional Drupal trainings, memberships to websites and coworking spaces, and so on.

Anyone organizing a Greater Los Angeles Drupal meetup or related event is welcome to request raffle prizes for their event.

Dropbox

Dropbox is one of the ways we manage files such as site backups and video recordings. We have a Dropbox Pro 100 account but it is currently frozen until it is downgraded. It is currently managed by Christefano Reyes, Oliver Seldman and Miguel Hernandez.

Due to the high number of large files — 47.7GB at the time of this writing — the most convenient ways to access specific files is either via the website interface at http://dropbox.com/home or via the Dropbox folder that's mounted on one of our VPS servers at SoftLayer.

Help us get more storage by using our referral link!

If downgraded to a free account, the amount of storage left in this account would be 7GB.
