About Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD)

Greater Los Angeles Drupal Greater Los Angeles Drupal (GLAD) is the umbrella group for most of the Drupal activity in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

With several weekly and monthly events, the Greater Los Angeles Area is one the most active areas for Drupal in the world. We've been bringing more Drupal to more people since 2010, and have as many as 10 meetups and other events dedicated to Drupal topics each and every month.

Our members and organizers have produced hundreds of Drupal events, including job fairs, meetups and workshops, conferences, paid trainings, coworking days, study group sessions, movie outings, FREE tutoring sessions from Drupal professionals, and website barnraisings to benefit non-profits and members of our community.

The Greater Los Angeles Drupal leadership team endeavors to actively empower and support volunteers and attendees in the Greater Los Angeles Area, and to provide resources (venues, guidance, equipment, raffle prizes, etc.) and an open governance model with consistency, transparency and accountability.

What's different about this group? (?)

In addition to our unique open governance model, GLAD has a different geographic focus than other regional groups. Formerly named Downtown Los Angeles Drupal, we've been meeting regularly in and around Downtown Los Angeles, California, since early 2010.

GLAD organizers lead a large number of events in the Greater Los Angeles Area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, Culver City, Santa Monica, Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, Orange County, Riverside and Ventura.

Items here are "new and interesting" based on their number of votes, number of comments, how recently it was posted, etc.

Get your Drupal Dev Shop listed on the Silicon Beach Dev list

You may or may not know about the Silicon Beach "Secret" Facebook Group. If you're not a member, let me know and I'll add/invite you.

It's a pretty good feed of LA tech news etc, with links to related groups on jobs, events, etc.

Important to this discussion is there's a Freelance Developers / Dev Shops document that has a list (and commentary) on local dev shops.

Downtown Drupal Meetup and Drupal Clinic via Webcast on Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Start:
2015-04-07 19:00 - 21:00 America/Los_Angeles
Organizers:

Greater Los Angeles Drupal The 1st Tuesday of the month is coming up again and it's time for another Downtown Drupal Meetup! Join us via webcast between 7-9pm Pacific. This meetup is free.

Are you new to Drupal or the Downtown Drupal meetup? Come learn about Drupal and how others like yourself are using it for their project, business or organization. We promise not to talk down to you. Those who would like to attend remotely are welcome to join us via webcast.

Tonight we'll be dedicating the entire meetup to a Drupal Clinic, also known as Users Helping Users. This is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal.

Please note that while Users Helping Users is not designed to be a replacement for bona fide consulting from a Drupal professional that there are plenty of Drupal experts and professionals who attend our meetups and sometimes they need help, too!

  • Are you currently having a problem that you need help with?
  • Do you have a presentation or job announcement that you'd like to share with the group?
  • Is there a topic about anything you'd like to see a presentation on?
  • Did you recently attend a great Drupal or tech event that you want to tell us about?
  • Did you solve a problem recently and now have a solution to share with the group?

If you said "Yes!" to any of these questions, this meetup is for you.

Ventura area Drupal connections at DrupalCon LA 2015

I'm planning to attend the May 11 Community Summit at DrupalCon LA (https://events.drupal.org/losangeles2015/community-summit). I'm interested in a face to face conversation about reviving a regular (monthly or quarterly) Drupal Meetup in Ventura County. Christefano and I have had made a few attempts at this, but I think a face to face meeting on May 11th could help move our efforts forward.

If you're interested in meeting up on the 11th in LA to work together around this goal, leave a comment below, email me at tim@congruity.works or call/text at 805-500-6846.
