Integration, loosely or tightly, is a transitional solution for forums already powered by something else. There's no problem with offering integration interfaces for that (searching, recent posts, central authentication, etc.) - but the permanent solution should be a native one.

Once there is such a native solution, a conversion tool would be a good idea too.
