Hey everybody,
At last night's Brevard meetup, after an outstanding project management presentation by Robert Lazlo, we discussed future topics at Brevard meetups. Based on that discussion, here is the proposed schedule for the next couple of months:
- Tuesday, July 9 - Responsive menus and navigation - Mike Anello
- Thursday, July 25 - Search API and Facets - Caroline Achee, Git-Flow for Daily Use - Kevin Basarab
- Monday, August 12 - Drupal 8 Preview - Robert Lazlo
- Friday, August 23 - Proposed Florida Drupal Trivia night - more info coming soon.
- Monday, September 9 - Git and Drush on GoDaddy Hosting - Cielo
- Wednesday, September 25 - Working with Theme Template Files - Caroline Achee
- Monday, October 7 - BYOP (Bring Your Own Problems, and we'll try to solve them as a group) - led by Linda Cook
- Wednesday, October 23 - Mediafront and YouTube - Natalie Roberts
Note that starting in August, we'll be switching to a Monday/Wednesday schedule for a few months while the Drupal Career Starter Program is in session (which takes place Tuesday/Thursday evenings for 10 weeks starting August 6).
Also note that we're going back to one presentation per meetup, this allows for more networking time as well as spontaneous discussions/presentations as time allows.
None of these dates and/or speakers are set in stone yet. Let's use the comments below to discuss this proposed schedule. If anyone has any requested changes, please add them as a comment below.
Thanks,
-mike

Community effort
Hey everybody,
I was thinking that it is a good time for everyone in the Brevard Drupal community to step up (just a little bit) and help out with the planning and marketing of our meetups going forward.
While I have absolutely, thoroughly, enjoyed always being the person to (mostly) plan and get the word out about our meetups ;), I think it is time for me to eat my own dogfood and encourage the rest of the local community to get involved (something that I preach at DrupalCamps and Cons).
With that in mind, we're looking for volunteers to step up and "claim" a future meetup. If you claim a meetup, here's what you'll be responsible for:
Ideally, the marketing shouldn't be a one-time thing - it usually works best with multiple posts over the two weeks leading up to the meetup.
In addition, if you'd like to do more than what is listed above (try out a new venue, plan for a future speaker, etc...), please don't be shy!
With all this in mind, Caroline Achee and Doug Hercules have already volunteered for future meetups:
So - who's the next volunteer? To the first 3 people to volunteer (and claim one of the future unclaimed meetups), I'll buy your first beverage at this Thursday's meetup (even a fancy drink, like Cielo enjoys).
Thanks,
-mike
P.S. We don't have a "Florida Drupal Users' Group" G+ page - it would be great if someone wanted to step up and get one started...

We now have a G+ Community at https://plus.google.com/s/florida%20drupal
