Topics/Presentations

We'd like to see everyone come prepared to either pose a question/issue they've ran across in the past month or to share something cool/amazing they've discovered in the past month. There are plenty of questions out there, so let's make sure we know what they are so we can get them all answered at this month's meetup!!

Additionally, please use the comments on this event node to suggest topics. If there is a consensus, we will try to have someone prepared to do an informal presentation.

DrupalCamp 2013 Status Update: Let's hear what has been happening!

Dinner & More Drinks

After each meetup, we usually depart from the "structured" environment, and continue our discussions over beers and food. So, when we are done being geeky, let's order food!

We look forward to seeing you all there!!

I've got a question...

rggoode's picture

I have some menu items that were generated by a View (which was saved in a Feature) that I can't get rid of. When I make some edits or additions to the View to add additional items, some of the menu items that had had different names previously want to stick around.

Even though they had been changed or removed form the View. I get the new items, but the old ones hang around. And I can't find a way to delete them.

Not a huge issue, as I've disabled them. But the menu screen starts to get cluttered.

Just thought I'd toss that out, cuz I'll probably forget about it by Thursday. :)

Menus and features

perignon's picture

I would say the root of the problem is the feature. Once you put something into a feature it's very hard to get it out. Checkout what the features UI says in in the feature. See if it is saved with menu items. Even though they are coming from the view, I am wondering if the feature is coded with menu items in it.

I actually quickly found out that menu's really aren't something you want to have in a feature.

But in general, once you have something in a feature there isn't a mechanism except for hacking the code to get rid of it (unless there has been a big update to features from the version I am using).

Yeah, that's pretty much what

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. The menu items got saved along with the View unintentionally. I tried updating the Feature, but the stray items are still there. Kind of a pain.

Yup the only way to remove it

Yup the only way to remove it will be to hack out the menu items from the feature code or revert to an older version of the feature without the menu items. Or go and create a new feature built the way you want then delete the old feature (this is tricky though).

I believe you should be able

I believe you should be able to edit the feature to only have the things you want and then regenerate it and replace the exported feature, then with drush for instance, 'drush features-revert-all'. That is if it's in code -- if not then you may only need to edit and save the feature and clear cache.

Yep, it should be very

Yep, it should be very worthwhile. My hunch is that JP will be leading the presentation and discussion on D8.
