What's your idea?
Make a quick search for a specific functionality easier by improving the search process for modules. The way drupalmodules.org has worked is a good example, with keywords and without a search button.
What are the benefits?
Drupalmodules.org is not maintained and outdated. It worked perfect for a lot of people, because it was a very fast way to find your module, only typing one or two keywords.
It is a difficult and time consuming proces to find the module, that gives you the functionality you want, in the current drupal.org module search.
Make this function in drupal.org and the search information is always up to date and quick to find.
It improves the find of the correct module(s).
Combine it with some other ideas: module rating, review,..
What are the risks?
Cannot find one.
How can we measure the impact of this idea? (metrics)
More searches with a positive result gives a higher search - download rate.
Less duplicate's of module's with the same feature.
More use of greath small modules.
Who directly benefits from / will use this improvement? (target audiences)
Drupal developers, Drupal cms builders.
Module makers, there is a higher change there modules are found.
It also has a positive effect on the Drupal brand and the drupal.org website: more user friendly. It 'sells' better.
Are additional resources available for discovery/implementation? (volunteer effort, financial backing, etc.)
I don't think so.
