Drupal 8 code sprint: Edinburgh. Who's interested?

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

There was some discussion at the last Drupal Drinks Edinburgh of holding a Drupal 8 code sprint at Heehaw next month.

I know there's some interest, but wanted to gauge how much, before trying to organise anything specific.

Please post a comment on this to let me know if you're interested. Based on the level of interest, we have some options, so please also let me know which of the following sounds best for you:

Time: Weekday evening or at a weekend, probably mid to late October.

Venue: Heehaw offices, or, if sufficient interest, we could potentially book out some space at The Standard (I believe it's free to do so) - I'll explore that further if needed.

Who's in?

Not sure if I'll be here in Edinburgh in mid to late October, but if I'm around, count me in for sure.

Currently Thursday 24 October looks like a good date for this - or failing that maybe the following Thursday. I'm going to drop by the Standard on Monday and see if they could put up with us for the evening! Watch this space...

Anyone led a sprint before and able to help out on that side of things? Your input would be very welcome :-)

Make sure you

Make sure you have:

  • whiteboard and marker pens
  • paper and pens
  • URLs of useful resources, such as the Drupal Ladder, documentation on how to install Drupal locally, how to make patches, how to use git, how to use the issue queue.
  • list of modules that users should have installed to have a development environment: devel, examples, at least. And drush.
  • Drupal installed on your own machine(s) and ready to go

The recent sprint in Dundee tagged a bunch of novice issues on d.org before the event, so there was a supply of things to give to people at the sprint. I think it would be a good idea to do the same here. Maybe get a mix of code and documentation issues; issues that need code / need work / need review. There are some issues in Examples module too.

I'm interested :-)

You should make an event for this so it shows up in the site calendar and the very nifty http://www.drupical.com/ !

suzi_tech_23's picture

Hi,
just wondering, time is marching on, and I'm not sure if this event is definitely going to happen on the 24th? Is it possible to confirm any details about this event yet?

Very sorry - I didn't add the

Very sorry - I didn't add the event page! Yes, it is. I'll create it as an event right now.
