Hey friends,
Prince Edward Island has a strong community of Drupal enthusiasts. I was browsing through the Drupal Groups, and thought I would create one for PEI seeing as there wasn't one.
Small sampling of private sector Drupal users:
- geckoWARE - uses and develops Drupal
- reinvented.net - uses and develops Drupal
- Goodbasic - has contributed to Drupal in the past
The University of Prince Edward Island is home to a fair amount of Drupal currently. Through the BEAT Program, Weblogs@UPEI was started in 2004 (mentioned in November 2004's Drupal Quickies) that has since grown to 1200 users, 5000 posts, countless comments, and a total of five member sites. I have worked on this project since January 2005.
A small student-run society has emerged from BEAT, and they have a small collection of custom modules in the works to power some additional channels of information on campus. The most promising is the Campus Information System module, which is designed to replace a small php/mysql project coded from scratch. This acts as a slideshow system for display on large LCD monitors, with the content managed by Drupal.
UPEI is also in the development stage of creating a new campus-wide CMS using Drupal for their public web presence. I've got my fingers in this too. Look out for that at upei.ca this summer.
