hi

Wondering what are the traffic numbers for Drupal.org?

Information such as
* Visits per day/month
* Page views per day/month

How many servers is drupal.org running on and what are the configurations of those boxes?

Thanks

Drupal.org runs on two Dell Xeon web servers, plus a third for the db. The db server is a V20z Sun AMD Opteron.

Here is (not very up to date) post by Dries.

While I don't have the traffic figures for drupal.org, I intimately know a site that get 12.5 million page views per month (peak 585,000 pv/d, 41,000 pv/hr) on a single box.

We were getting 50+ million page views per month at peak season this year. Running drupal on two Dell Xeon web servers (database is on one of them.)

"Xeon" is a bit vague. I'd appreciate learning the specifics. For instance, for my test server inhouse to play with, I'm deploying a

4GB RAM
3x36GB U320 15K disks in RAID5
dual 1GB network

not bragging, just asking for details so that we understand what separates the big boys from the hosted services.
As larger enterprises coming looking for Drupal solutions, it's worthwhile for us to know what we are talking about,
and not get talked under the table by the IT powers-that-be..

Which brings up a question thats surely been asked before. Is there a set of test that can be used to benchmark
a Drupal configuration and profile it's performance?

Both of my machines are identical. Here are the specs.

Dual Xeon 6600 2.4Ghz (Dual Core)
4 Gigs of ram
320 Gig SATA RAID

I'd be curious to hear anyone's comments on performance and optimization. I have seen a few articles around and we will being researching and optimizing in a couple of months.

Thanks for the details. A

Thanks for the details. A general question out to you and anyone else - opinions and experiences running a Drupal configuration on these variations

1) Two separate servers, Drupal+database

2) One fast dual-cpu server

3) One fast quad-cpu server

4) Dual-core vs. dual-cpu, and quad-core vs. quad CPU.

High performance
