DrupalSouth is excited to announce that we'll be bringing some of the most influential people in the Drupal community over to New Zealand to speak at the conference from the 14-16th of February 2014.

Larry Garfield

Larry Garfield has been building web sites since he was a sophomore in high school, which is longer ago than he'd like to admit. As a freelancer he worked mostly for Chicago-area politicians before graduating to full time consulting with Palantir.net.

Larry is an active Drupal core contributor, including the principle architect of the Drupal 7 database system and the Drupal 8 Web Services Lead. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Drupal Association. Larry holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from DePaul University.

A regular presenter at DrupalCons and DrupalCamps, Larry frequently talks about software architecture. He is a co-author of "Drupal 7 Module Development" from Packt Publishing, and has also been published in Drupal Watchdog. He blogs at both http://www.palantir.net and http://www.garfieldtech.com.

Jeffrey A. "jam" McGuire

Only local images are allowed. Jeffrey A. "jam" McGuire, open source strategist, Drupal evangelist, Acquia Manager of Community Affairs.

A longstanding passion for the Drupal project and its community has led to him being active at the intersection between open source software, business, and culture. He is regularly featured as a speaker at events around the world, talking about open source, digital disruption, Drupal and more. This helps satisfy his inner diva, which he also feeds with performances as a storyteller and musician.

He is listed a few times in Drupal’s MAINTAINERS.txt and maintains several well-used contrib projects, including the Zen themeMenu BlockMenu Position, and Fences. John is also the co-author of Drupal 7 Module Development and author of the upcoming O’Reilly book, Sass and Compass.
