Meeting Notes to Tickets converter

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi all, I'm looking to see what might be out there before I design this myself.

Goal: Copy and paste notes from a meeting into a node and have Drupal make nodes (tickets/cases, whatev) out of them.

Reason: Too much time is spent entering tickets into a system and teams often resort to just managing a list in a Wiki which can quickly get out of control.

Any examples/leads/insights are appreciated :) If there are not examples out there, a starting place is at least an easy syntax for when you are taking notes quickly that will convert well into tickets.

Hey R.J.

Pretty cool ideal that you have.
I think what you are looking for is something that usually we can do using MS OneNote.
OneNote is perfect for taking notes, and you can generate tasks within a note. Those tasks can be imported to the Outlook Tasks.

Doing the same concept in a groupware solution using Drupal would be super cool, but I guess this is an ambitious project!

I could probably pull off a rough version in a day or two, just hoping to find a starting place for a standardized note format. Looks like MS OneNote might shed some light on it! :) Could you give us an example or point me towards some documentation?

Not sure if I can help really, besides recommending to test the products.

Here a link: MS OneNote example: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/HA101482631033.aspx#5

Usually I would design the application around the concept of a meeting as a driver for actions or tasks.

So the usual meeting minutes in drupal would:
- notifiy meeting participants by mail; do not limit to participants in the meeting as there are others o may need to be informed or be delegated tasks;
- generate tasks in the "task module", that could be trackable (who, when, status, start and completion dates).
- update tasks afterwords; In MS Outlook, the delegated person easily updates/closes the task and reports back to the initiator person.

For me it's easy, as I am a dreamer that cannot code! :-) Just ideas, from my own needs!

The great think would be to use OneNote, as its perfect with it's screen capture and copy and past and search capability.
I have never seen another app that can search text inside the images (of the screen captures). That is awesome.

Make it simple

We use Atrium by Development seed to manage our tickets. It's very simple to use and we've had great success. The ticketing system is a case that is linked to a project in a group (Client)

From what you say I would think a cvs upload for the Atrium system would be a great idea to upload new tickets.
