Glasgow Drupal 8 Sprint - Drupal Sprint Weekend 2014

As part of Scotland's contribution to the Global Sprint Weekend, there will be a sprint in central Glasgow on Saturday, 25 January. Whether you are a hardcore code junky or code-adverse sitebuilder, this is another opportunity to say, 'I contributed to Drupal 8'.

You most certainly do not have to be a Drupal 8 whizz to attend - for example you can help test that a patch fixes an issue, an equally vital part of the contribution process.

If you are new to Drupal, you can get a head start by setting up an account on Drupal.org and taking a look at the Drupal Ladder http://drupalladder.org/

We will have a brief introduction, then split into groups and work on Drupal core issues. We'll select a variety of issues beforehand - some don't require any coding experience.

If at any stage you are stuck or confused, fear not! There will be mentors and experienced contributors on hand to help you out and wipe the sweat from your brow.

Bring your laptop + power supply.
If possible, install Git (http://git-scm.com/downloads) before coming
git clone Drupal 8 core (more info at http://drupalmentoring.org/sprint)
You might find installing a development environment such as Sublime, Eclipse, or Netbeans useful, although most text editors are probably up to the job.

If would also be great, but not essential, if attendees could bring along any spare network cable they might have (this is simply to ease the pressure on the wireless network).

All attendees must sign up so that we can have an idea of the amount of desk space we require.

Thanks to the generosity of Post Creative and Made with Custard, the event will be hosted at their offices close to both Glasgow Central Queen Street stations. The address is Studio 106, Southblock, 60 Osborne Street, Glasgow G1 5QH. The sprint will run from 9am to 5pm, though if there is the energy and enthusiasm the finishing time could be put back until later on Saturday evening.
