It's time for the next Drupal DevOps meetup at the NEWMEDIA Denver offices in lodo. For those that missed the last presentation on using Jenkins to automate routine tasks, you can view the slidedeck here https://github.com/newmediadenver/presentations. The presentation at this meetup will also be recorded, but we highly recommend that you to attend in order to ask questions and get assistance in setting up these tools so you can start using them now.
In this meetup Josh Beauregard (sanguis on drupal.org, github, and elsewhere) will be presenting on how to leverage post deployment scripts when pushing new code and new features to an existing Drupal website. When done correctly, this methodology of deploying can greatly reduce human error, improve the QA experience, and ultimately save time. The presentation will touch on a variety of topics, such as using the features module, drush updatedb, and hook_update_N() functions to deploy changes in code versus coordinating manual DB changes.
We're also excited that this will be our first presentation featuring a remote speaker (Josh hails from Western Massachusetts) and we look forward to bringing in additional speakers from around the country and around the world because we want to expand this conversation beyond the Denver community. Live streaming details to follow....
Food and beverages will be provided. Doors open at 6:00pm with the presentation starting at 6:30pm. See ya there!
