Hi Guys, been working with my new real estate website.. and everything is going great and hopeful I can finish what is required. been looking for a lot of reference lately to figure out how to make it work, such as rlisting, feed, feeds, migrate, etc. but finally I was able to make everything work except for the search category for which I'm doing now. Been through a lot of testing and research. If you have some questions feel free to ask.
Here's my website: www.gfdubai.com
it automatically imports feeds from our CRM software
you can check out the modules that I used by copy pasting my URL to http://www.drupalxray.com/
hi the site looks good well done on it. can i ask a dumb question, is there any difference in the rental side to the sales. or just a taxonomy category difference?
im interested in doing a rental site for young people in the UK
The group is pretty dead, but that doesn't mean it won't pick up again with a little push. Projects drive activity. Realtors and many web developers aren't flocking to Drupal, but to more canned, restrictive solutions, forcing Drupal developers to implement custom solutions, or to otherwise struggle to get funding or spare time to contribute to quality projects, like Drealty. Given your situation that you have described, I recommend getting a very strong grasp of the core set of Drupal 8 features and just running with standalone Drupal, then maybe learn some of the more popular contributed modules, but be careful to avoid old modules that pose as actively maintained. If the main branch hasn't had a commit in months or years, or if there's only a dev branch, then probably avoid those modules. You have to ignore the commit dates on the main page as well, since those get updated by a script every so often. Some projects that say "actively maintained" aren't at all in actuality.
A little belated because this thread was started on May 2014, but thanks anyway.
I tried to restart this group with "a little push", nobody understood my intentions and everything resulted in a disgraceful thread where people who had no idea of what we were discussing started posting rubbish and despicable personal attacks.
Finally the thread was closed by mods.
I have completely given up on this group, no longer belong to it, you won't find me in the IRC channel any more.
Moreover, I don't see any reason for this group to even exist, since Drupal existing functionality is all you need to build a real estate site.
Regarding 'restrictive solutions', probably meaning Word Press, not interested on them either, fast but commercially ineffective.
There is a myriad of real estate sites out there, only effective for those who are on the montly receiving end.
Bottom line: learn Drupal, struggle with it and build your own.

"Learn Drupal and struggle"
Perfect attitude. Really solves things.
Anyway, a new release went out yesterday to support agents, offices, and open houses from RETS. Contrary to what you may believe, a lot of folks do need to import and relate all of that data because (from personal experience) some county/state run association boards require by law to post the listing agent and listing firm on every single property. dRealty facilitates that. There are just as many plenty happy devs/users out there getting it up and running as there are who don't like it.
Pop in your authentication details for RETS, and go. Drupal does that.
Can't say its perfect, but I also can't say the vendors and software we have to connect to are perfect either. It makes all of this very slow going process.
People are free to do what they want, choice is theirs.
