During 23 to April 25, 2014 we had a rewarding experiences when we reached our goal to create a Drupal Camp & Symfony Day in Mexico City at the same technical level of the Camps in USA and Europe. Furthermore it was very diverse since we’ve gathered people from a dozen countries: 35 speakers and 181 attendees. We are very proud to be the first camp to held simultaneously both the Symfony and the Drupal community in one event.
The UNESCO’s World Heritage National University of Mexico was the perfect frame for a camp where different point of views were exposed within a tolerant and respectful environment. The same day for example we hosted sessions by Ryan Weaver from Symfony and by the Drupal forkers, Jane Lampton and Nate Haug from Backdrop. Never before attendees had the opportunity to contrast and broaden their opinions in such way.
Important sponsors and speakers from well known companies like Pantheon, Lullabot, Drupalize.me, Github, Drupal Association, Axxai, Neubox as well as attendees from important Mexican institutions already using or planning to install Drupal in their organisations enjoyed an excellent sessions, great food, tourism and the usual Latino hospitality, all of them were interested in attending again.
Now we have the challenge to keep all the goods things and make some improvements like reaching a wider audience from newbies, students and IT decision makers in order to create and expand the Drupal industry in this global city.
Please, stay tuned since there a lot more coming in the following months.
Thanks to all the people that made this camp happen.
We are in debt with you.
Hope to see you again soon!
