Hello Everyone,
I talked with a few Git admins about organizing an application review sprint to occur during the Drupal Global Sprint Weekend (https://groups.drupal.org/node/447258). This would be a virtual sprint, so all locations are welcome. The main purpose of the sprint would be to help reduce the RTBC backlog.
We would need Git admins on-hand to approve users, and any non-admin volunteers to help however they can. Of course, I don't consider the exact details up to me. We'll need a person or two to help organize/spearhead efforts.
In addition, I wanted to let the group know there are likely policy changes coming soon. A number of governance groups (Technical Working Group, Security Working Group, and Drupal.org Software Working Group) have been working on policy changes for non-vetted users and the application review process. These changes will hopefully streamline the process and reduce the burden on reviewers. When we have approval, the proposal will be posted in the Technical Working Group's issue queue and publicly announced for community feedback.
I cannot provide specific details, because we are still waiting for approval; however, sprinters can use the updated review guidelines. This means only stopping approval of the application for major problems that fall under security, licensing, or Drupal API use.
Who would be interested in participating in, and/or organizing, the sprint?
Update: There is a sprint. See the event node here - https://groups.drupal.org/node/454138

I can be available on Saturday to answer questions in #drupal-codereview as well. But I'm holding a separate sprint to port modules from D7 => D8 too so unfortunately I won't be able to take part more actively.

I wanted to give you all an update. The policy changes have been approved. We are working on a write-up of the changes, and then will post it for public viewing. (I'm not sure where yet, but we'll make sure the publicize it.) Some of the changes can take affect right away, but some require technology changes. The DA staff are reviewing those changes and will come up with a time frame for implementation.

Is this going to be a proposal people can give feedback on, or are these new policies being made in private and implemented without public discussion?
