Call for Speakers: DrupalCamp Colorado Beginner Track

Hello Colorado. I'm organizing a beginner track for DrupalCamp Colorado in Denver later this year. Our goal is to make the event a great learning experience for people with little to no previous Drupal experience. This is your personal invitation to speak in this track. Yes you.

Because the topics are all beginner-level, this track is also a great opportunity for beginner speakers. Experienced speakers are available and excited to help you prepare over the months between now and the camp. If you've never spoken at a Drupal event before, this is the perfect place to get started.

Below are some topics we'd like to cover. If you're interested in speaking on any of these topics, either post a comment on this Groups thread or email me directly: scott@aten.io

• Installing Drupal: hosting platforms (Aquia, Pantheon, etc.), local environment setup (MAMP, WAMP, bitnami, etc.), install profiles, database connections, etc.
• Editing Content: finding content in the admin, adding new content, editing existing content, setting author, publication date, URL path, etc.
• Creating Content Types & Fields: Field types, widget types, manage display, etc. (tentatively filled)
• Views Basics: creating lists of content, filtering, paging, maybe relationships, etc.
• Users, Roles, and Permissions: creating new users, resetting passwords, adding roles, adjusting permissions, etc.
• Blocks and Layout: blocks UI, Context, Display Suite, Panels, etc.
• Modules and Themes: finding what you need on Drupal.org, installing, updating, etc.
• Deployment: moving your code and database, making updates, maybe touch on git, etc.
• Community: using Groups, IRC, meetups, issue queues, documentation, etc.
• Something Else?: if you recently learned Drupal, you know better than anyone what might be missing from this list.

That's it: simple stuff you already know, months to learn it a little better, free speaker training, and a friendly audience. What more could you ask for? Cookies? Okay, I'll give you cookies too.
