Hello friends,
Are the dynamics of blogging changing ?
I am trying to come up with a social network site, weighing options of blogging modules (microblog/twitter and statuses)
Some blogging modules don't have dependencies ( either User rationships or OG rules) which sounds like they do broadcast.
Its like only statuses has a User relationship context
So is sharing "Stories" shifting between from groups to all sitewide members."every one"
Thanks for your opnions

It depends on what your goal is.
I think it makes more sense if you think of it differently. From a business perspective it's less about "to blog or not to blog" and more about a shift away from author driven content towards user generated content. If you look at any of the big players - Google, facebook, twitter, youtube etc, you'll see that what they all have in common is that the content is primarily generated by average end users rather than by the company themselves. This not only reduces the financial burden on the company, it also increases the amount of content exponentially which is good both for search engines and for advertising. An added bonus is that the user becomes personally invested in the platform increasing the time they spend on it. The average user is not a professional content producer though so the drive is towards short, quick and easy. Sharing content that is already out there is one of the easiest ways to accomplish that. I think that pretty much sums up the direction things are going and it doesn't matter which form of content you're talking about - writing (blogging), images, video or audio - these trends are consistent across all of them.
