In Drupal 7, there are 3 modules available that allow you to expose your data through an API: Services, RestWS and RestFUL. We will give a summary of the difference between them, then dive into RestFUL module and how you can use it for your CMS. Along the way we will be showing examples of how we implemented it at the University of Waterloo.

Tyler, add location information to your event so people know it's happening in Waterloo. Some people might be confused and think it's a DrupalTO meetup.
