Hey everybody - in case you haven't heard, we're having a D8 release party on Thursday, November 19 in Orlando. See https://groups.drupal.org/node/488813
We need some volunteers to help us get this organized - it should be pretty easy, so if you're planning on attending, please also consider lending a hand. Here's what we have in mind so far:
- Do a massive Google hangout with other release parties and have that projected on the wall. - Mike A will bring a projector and screen. If anyone else has an extra projector lying around please leave a comment below.
- Board games - Do we want to do this? If so, will someone volunteer to organize this (and bring some games).
- Open source trivia - Mike H is looking into this.
- Some cool signage - Mike A and Ben H have Florida Drupal Users' Group signs. Should be get a big Druplicon banner made as well? Something generic we can use at other events?
- Some background music or something to help set the mood - Does anyone have a small PA system we can use?
- We'll need to design and get t-shirts - Mike A will contact the DA about some swag. In addition, it would be very cool to have some Florida Drupal D8 t-shirts as well - anyone want to take the lead on this?
- Food (pizza) - Anyone want to take the lead on ordering and picking up the pizza?
- Beverages - Mike H is handling this.
- Plates/napkins/etc... - Anyone want to volunteer to help with this?
- D8 demo? - Does anyone want to volunteer to do some short D8 demos on the big screen?
- Other activities? Make a suggestion!
The Florida Drupal Users' Group has money to pay for this party, so no one will be asked to pay for anything out of their own pocket (unless there's an organization that wants to sponsor the party in exchange for some publicity).
The party is only 16 days away, so if we're going to do this, we need to act on it fast. If you can help, please leave a comment below ASAP and let us know what you'd like to help with.
thanks,
-mike

Hangout with CHA
Mike,
We should totally fire up a hangout from our party to yours (and everyone elses).
Lee, we'll need to coordinate
Lee, we'll need to coordinate this with other parties. http://www.drupical.com has a map of all the d8 release parties, and North America has a bunch - which is important because of time zones.
Maybe we can use something like http://appear.in instead. The cool thing about that is that it shows all locations equally instead of having one maximized.

It looks like South Florida
It looks like South Florida is going to get in on the virtual party!

@Cl3L0 I was talking to @rnorman489, and we may be having a #Celebr8D8 #Drupal8 party in Miami. Ron is looking for a location. #Drupal
I'm coming up with 50-60
I'm coming up with 50-60 trivia questions. Most of them center around general open source, with a number of Drupal questions thrown in. My thought is we can market it to fossetcon attendees as a d8 release party and FOSS trivia. I'd like to keep it in a similar format to Drupalcon's trivia nights.

I love wine! I love pizza
I love wine! I love pizza too... I volunteer to order the pizza and bring wine, napkins, plates, etc. I also have a few games that I can bring such as Cards against Humanity =)
Update
Ok - based on the comments and signups above, this is where we stand:
Things we don't have any volunteers for:
T-shirts
I can still try to get t-shirts if anyone is interested.
Dorothy, Sorry I didn't post
Dorothy,
Sorry I didn't post this earlier - we're going to have to skip the t-shirts - we couldn't get them printed in time. Thanks for your efforts though!

I will attend and can help if needed
Hi I'm just getting involved at the last minute but I was just able to arrange to be there. If you need a last minute volunteer let me know. Sorry but I do not have a PA system. I can always help cleanup!
