Would there be something in the OP 1.6 theme that would interfere with Node Reference URL from adding a link to a node?

I'm trying to create a photo gallery like the one Jeff Eaton created in his video "Photo galleries with Views Attach".

For some reason, the "add photo" link that is supposed to appear in the gallery node by using Node Reference URL is not showing up.

Is there something in the Open Publish theme that might be interfering with that? If not, any one have a clue what I might be doing wrong?

I've attempted to build the photo gallery using Acquia's stack installer and it worked fine. Also, I attempted to use Views Gallery instead in OP 1.6, still don't get the "add photo" link and additionally receive the following error when creating a gallery node (see attachment)...

Please HELP!
