Gauging interest in a Drupal 8 bootstrap boot camp

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Drupal 8 has revitalized my personal interest in development and rapidly increased the speed of my deployments. But... it took a lot of learning to get there. The infamous "Drupal learning curve" may bend even steeper for some with the move to OOP in core.

I'd like to gauge interest in a day-long (or so) boot-camp of sorts to share some key lessons learned in transitioning from Drupal 7 development to Drupal 8. I'm envisioning something for an intermediate-to-expert D7 developer who hasn't dug too deeply in to D8 but could follow along in a discussion sprinkled with object-oriented talk, is comfortable with an IDE and version control.

I'm envisioning something paid but not too expensive, and offered near downtown. Depending on the audience we could tailor an agenda to the needs and experiences of those who wish to participate. And if it goes well, the session could be easily taken back to your dev shop.

BuildAModule.com, et. al. have some decent stuff, but I think there's some benefit to in-person training, particularly if you've got some experience. Please ping me offline if this is something that interests you and I'll get a group together if we reach critical mass.

Thanks!

Great idea Brad!

Some of the Aten team had a similar idea and have been thinking about a one-day Drupal 8 event. I reached out to Brad and he is interested collaborating with us on the event. If you are interested in participating, please take a minute and fill out this quick survey. Thanks!

Brad, I agree ... great idea!

At the South Denver Drupal Meetup, we've been getting to know Drupal 8 by making our monthly meetings hands-on laptop sessions. The first two or three meetings focused on installing and updating D8 (which is new), and since about December we've been working on building a sample module. Any way we can support the idea, let me know.
