WALL4PHP and WURFL

I'm new here but I don't think it's already been discussed, but from what I understand it sounds like we should consider using them.

There's this open-source WURFL database of mobile phones that attempts to list all their browser capabilities:
http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/

Then there's this thing called WALL (Wireless Abstraction Layer), that basically allows you to write generic HTML-like code that gets interpreted and spat out as device specific mark up based on what the WURFL database knows of it's capabilities.

WALL is written in Java but there's a PHP implementation called WALL4PHP:
http://wall.laacz.lv/

I haven't tried any of this stuff, but it looks like what we'd need is a WALL template and a module to interface with WALL4PHP. This should in theory get us 90% there.

I just wish I had the skill and time. Any thoughts?

I'm really interested on this. I am searching for some Drupal extension for mobile phones, and I hace found that. I have wide experience with WURFL and WALL4PHP, and I think it's possible to do this. There are some problems to be solved, as always when any kind of transconding is necesary.
Contact me if you are interested in developing that.

Hi,

Any progress been made with regard to this?

I am looking at somehow working on this too.

What would be the right way to go about this? A Wall4PHP templating engine or a phptemplate based template which hooks into wall?
