Hi folks
I'm thinking of renting 150m2 warehouse space in Melbourne, and will be inspecting the space tomorrow. My idea is to create a creative work/play venue for web-dev (especially Drupal) and multimedia freelancers. We can work independently, as many of us already do, or collaborate on larger projects. I would also like to set up a basketball hoop and ping-pong table, maybe some beanbags. The rent is very cheap. If you think you might be interested, please let me know ASAP as this will help me decide. Ph/txt 0405478912
Rock on,
Mossy

Great idea, but check for others
Great idea but I think you might also want to check for similar spaces that already exist. Some good search terms are "co-working", "hot desking" and "jelly".
I think I saw some notes on a mailing list that mentioned a new one in Melbourne about a month ago and was still open with several spots.

Check out Alt Space in
Check out Alt Space in wellington for a well-implemented coworking space: http://www.altspace.co.nz/
Also, Effusion Group in Christchurch is not a generic coworking space but a cooperative of open-source-minded businesses and freelancers, and has a lot in common with coworking spaces; http://effusiongroup.com/
I've rented office space in both.

thanks
Hey guys, thanks for the links, very interesting!
To be honest the fun for me would be in setting up and managing the space. I'm not simply looking for somewhere for myself to work, but to put a group together of powerful Drupal (and other) freelancers, for those who would like to take on larger projects but who do not want to work at a company. i.e. people like me.
co working
This kind of thing would be great in major cities. I've been working between Melbourne and Sydney for a while. A place to work with like minded people would be great
