BIG Thanks to Neil (IndyTechCook) for setting this up!!
Now, we now have an **#indianapolis**** channel in the Drupal Slack Workspace!
If you're not already using Drupal Slack, I highly recommend you join at https://drupalslack.herokuapp.com/
Once you sign up and join the Drupal Slack Workspace, click on CHANNELS and you'll see a search interface.
As you begin to enter "indianapolis" you will see #indianapolis appear in the list and you can click it to join.
In addition to hanging out with Indianapolis ppl, you can use the #general and #support channels as well.
Seriously... Even being in my 13th year doing Drupal I find myself needing to pop into #support and ask an important question that is blocking my progress. You may not get an answer immediately, but ppl tend to leave the channel open in a browser and pop back in from time to time. If the right person sees your question & has time to answer, they will!
Tips for a better experience seeking help from Drupal Slack #support
- State the Drupal Version upfront.. ex: D6, D7, D8
- State your end goal. ex: "After a user saves a specific node form I want the user redirected to a page created via Views"
- State what you have tried so far. ex: "I tried the blabla module but didn't see a cnofiguration for blabla. I then tried to write a custom module using hook_form_alter but it didn't work as expected. etc.. etc.."
- Perhaps even mention what you've googled. ex: "When I search for blabla and blabla I just didn't get any results that applied to my version of Drupal.
When viewers of your post see that you have tried to find a solution, they are ore likely to assist. Also, by telling them what you tried, you prevent someone from advising you to do something you already tried.
Reply to this thread and share your experiences.
If you're a Slack PRO, maybe you have some suggestions that I overlooked.
