I know that this is really a views issue however after reading several tickets I realized that it will not be fixed. This is also an OP1.5 issue. I looked to see how it was managed in OP1.7 and it looked the same.
I reinstalled RDF and OpenCalais last night and tagged all the content on the site.
The issue is that taxonomy terms are passed to the view as an argument. If there is only one vocabulary involved then it works just fine, however if there are several vocabularies involved and the taxonomy term being passed is in each of them (say three for example) than that node title and teaser will be displayed three times in the Content by topic list.
The distinct function does not work in this situation and it is a big the topic of conversation. I did however copy the SQL query, placed it in phpMyAdmin and added the DISTINCT function. It works just fine.
Have you solved this or do you know a quick and easy way to solve this problem? Am I just missing something obvious?
