User group meeting
Join us on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 1-3PM for a 2-hour meetup at MindComet's offices in Altamonte Springs.
There is no topic yet for the meetup, so if you would like to present something, please post it in the comments below.
Several people (including myself) won't be able to attend (due to DrupalCon SF), so it might be a great opportunity for some Q&A.
Thanks,
-mike

Could do
I'll see if I can make it, I could spend a few days doing Q&A with folks on module development ;-)
fearless leader
Damien,
Neither Andrew nor I will be able to make it. We just talked and voted you King.

I'll take the baton
If someone can open the doors I'll be there (am super-crazy busy right now but have organized time off).
So who can be there to open the doors? Captain Intern?
Are we meeting?0
Did you get someone to open so that we can have a meeting today?

Importing XLS data into Drupal
I'm pretty sure I'll be there. If anyone has any suggestions on the best way to import data from an Excel spreadsheet into a new Drupal site, I'm all ears. More specfically, I need to import a list of members in an organization into Drupal, also making them users. There are about 800 on the list, with basic company and contact info.
Thoughts?
See you tomorrow.

Anyone have any experience with the Migrate Module?

Sounds like it could do what I need.

solid module
Dan,
It's my go-to module when importing content (combined with Table Wizard).

When the information is
When the information is imported as csv in the table wizard all the fields are varchar. You will have to using phpmyadmin or something convert one field to INT and make it the primary key. Maybe this isn't the best practice but it's been the only way for me so far. You can also create relationships between tables in the database with table wizard and use Views to pull (Left Join) fields from two or three tables to create one very large virtual table. If you have any questions on basic usage ask here and I'll try to help.

Very good info. I'll look into this module and give it a try.
Thanks, guys.

It should be possible to
It should be possible to build a schema into a module that defines the table type IF you are always using the same column names... but that's a lot of work unless this is for an ongoing thing. PhpMyAdmin can do it very quickly, however there are still a lot of problems with getting the schema defined properly. Sorry I missed the meet, was up wayyy to late trying to figure out how to make a module that works like the core reports. I can head up now if people are still working on things.
Great meeting
Thanks everyone.

Ditto!
Sometimes it's good to just share experiences and little tips. Looking forward to next month!
