Hi,
I just found out about the Boston Drupal Group meeting scheduled for 10/9/07. About a month ago I set up a Meetup group, Greater Boston Drupal Meetup, and I have scheduled our first meetup for 10/10/07. How embarrassing :-). I see your future dates so I will try and schedule Meetup dates accordingly. I will also let
the Meetup folks know about the Boston Drupal Group meetings.
Hopefully, there is enough interest in Drupal for both meetings to be useful. My intended audience for the GB Drupal meetup is for beginner to intermediate level Drupal Developers. This may be a good complement to the more advanced topics discussed at the Boston Drupal Group meetings.

Sounds great... I'm in Western MA but will try to make it to both meetings.
lets merge
i prefer to merge groups. i really don't see value in a new boston drupal group. if we don't like the software that runs here, please detail ways in which is should be better. and then we'll figure out how to do it.
clarification
i should clarify that i love meetup and publicizing via meetup is a good idea because some people look there. for that matter, we should be on upcoming.org and all the other sites. but those sites would ideally link back to this group and we use this group as the main place to chatter. meeting dates would be posted here and then copied to other sites.
improving drupal group meetings
Hi Moshe,
I think the big advantage of Meetup over Drupal Groups for meeting scheduling is the RSVP functionality. I can imagine as an admin it must be really hard to keep track of who's in and who's out, especially if people are meeting in a public place and may need to reserve space in a restaurant or something.

we have had that feature here but recently disabled it since event functionality is changing. it will be back soon.
