A couple people at the last SCUG Meetup mentioned getting rooms in Denver for DrupalCamp. I'm checking to see if any hotels offer group rates. In order to get a group rate, a contract needs to be signed for a certain number of rooms regardless of whether or not they get booked. So I wanted to see if anyone is even interested before talking further with the hotels.

Is anyone planning on getting a room?

If so, for Friday, Saturday or both? Have you already made reservations?

Yes, I'm actually bringing my family

So we would need two rooms. So if you can get a competitive rate at a location that works for us that would be two right there.

We'd be coming in the evening Friday and don't want to rent a car from the airport (on the assumption we can get a rental much cheaper at a non-airport location) so convenience and perhaps even a free shuttle might be factors we'd look at, but probably not critical ones.

Definitely let us know what you come up with.

Oh almost forgot, Friday and Saturday (and maybe longer, but not sure yet).

Cheaper and relatively convenient to most downtown hotels since it leaves you at Market Street station which is on the 16th street mall (with a free bus).

You don't need to call hotels to get group rates

Use an online group travel service like http://grouptravel.org

Rates are automated and in most cases, you wont need to worry about contracts.

Group Rate Available

The Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown is offering a special rate of $145 for Attendees. Find out more at http://drupalcampcolorado.org/travel. It's a pretty good deal considering, there are 2 other conferences going on that weekend and a lot of hotels are already booked. They only have 20 rooms available so if you want one, get 'em while they're hot.

winston: Unfortunately none of the downtown hotels offer a free airport shuttle since the airport is halfway to Kansas. A cab to the hotel would be about $50 and a super shuttle is around $21.

jahmere: Thanks for the suggestion, I tried grouptravel. They had some great rates but most required a contract and were way out in the suburbs.
