I hear there has been some discussion about organizing some skydives at DrupalCons and other DrupalCamps. I'm all for that, being a skydiver myself! I thought we could start the discussion out by finding out who out there in the Drupal world skydives already, where you're from, and what your favorite discipline of skydiving is.
I'll start!
I'm Linda (Skygal) from Madison, WI. I mainly do CReW, but also belly flying.
Who else?

Re: Who are you, Drupal skydivers?
I'm currently working on my A license at Skydive Snohomish in Washington. I'd love to get together with some other Drupal jumpers at some point. Depending on how the weather goes, I should have my license wrapped up in the next couple of months, so Skydive Chicago at DrupalCon next year would be an option.
I'm ^Heathen on IRC. I don't have a preferred discipline yet since I'm still in training. Down the road I'd like to do some photo/video work for a team.
Maybe!
My guess, after looking at the calendar, is that Skydive Chicago will not open for business until March 19th which would be too late for DrupalCon. We could check into it, though! I'll be there on Sunday at the National competition. I'll try to find out. It would be cool to get a group jump together!
Closed for the winter?
What? They close for the winter? Does it get cold there or something? :-p
The rainy season has started a little early here in Seattle, so my jumping is already getting hit.
I think that DrupalSummit PNW will be in Portland next year, and there's a drop zone nearby. There are also a few close to DrupalCamp Austin which don't close for the winter as far as I know.
Hiya
Hey, I'm the proposer of the (rejected without fair appeal) Drupal Skydivers group. CSPA A License from Montreal, Canada. I took some people to Lodi after Drupalcon SF, and would love for this to be a regular Drupalcon side event for new and experienced jumpers alike.
I guess there are two of us!
I guess there are two of us! I proposed it as well at one time, and actually had a Drupal Skydivers group started. But then it, as well as my post above, got moved here to DrupalFit. The more the merrier, I guess! :-)
Since I don't live toooo far from Chicago, some folks have asked me about jumping at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, IL, before or after DrupalCon Chicago next March. It's a nice dropzone - jumped there many times! It's actually the home of last year's National Skydiving competition, in September, 2010. But Skydive Chicago is closed for the season. They do not reopen until March 19th. There is another dropzone actually closer to downtown Chicago called Chicagoland Skydiving Center (CSC), but they are closed as well, until April. The next closest dropzone, that actually IS open in March, weather and jumpers provided, but in their smaller Cessna 182 jumpcraft they use during the winter, is Skydive Milwaukee, in East Troy, WI. That's about a 2-hour drive, at the very most, from downtown Chicago. Probably a little less.
So there are your options for jumping at DrupalCon Chicago, Drupal skydivers! Yes, it will be very cold at altitude in March. But some of us northern jumpers are die hards and jump all winter, just to get our adrenaline fix. :-)
It would be cool if skydivers going to different DrupalCamps throughout the year would post in their own local group site as well as here, to get some organizing done ahead of time. I think it'd be a great side event too, 63Reasons!
I just heard that the new
I just heard that the new Parachutist site is built on Drupal 6. I'm a jumper and web admin for Frontier Skydivers in Newfane, NY. Our site is built on Drupal 5.x but I hope to move to Drupal 7 once our core modules have been converted.
Is there a skydiving
Is there a skydiving expedition planned during DrupalCon Chicago?
