The next meeting of the Berkeley Drupal User Group is scheduled for 8/24 12:00 - 1:30pm in 60 Barrows on the UC Berkeley Campus. We are looking for a presentation. If you've been working on something interesting that you'd like to share, please send me a brief description of your presentation.

In the event that we don't have a formal presenter we could:

  1. Have a focussed, informal discussion on a given subject. A volunteer could work through a problem (using the projector and a demo site) while the rest of the group assists.
  2. I could continue the demo I began last month of drush and drush_make and approaches to keeping your sites up to date with the latest security releases.

Please respond with your preferences/ideas.

I'd like #2 as well

I'm okay with either, but prefer 2.

#2

+1 for #2 drush/drush_make

Brian, your last talk on drush was great. Looking forward to the next installment.

BTW I really like #1 as well... perhaps someone can take that on for September?

Thought I'd list some topics of interest for walk-throughs (I could possibly do some of these)...

  • setting up your own drupal distribution so you don't have to rebuild the same functionality yet again - using profiles?, features?, drush?, drush_make?
  • Advanced Views - relationships, arguments, filters - limitations of Views and when you need to code
  • setting up an IDE with Drupal, svn, etc. for drupal development
  • wysiwyg editor customization - specifically CKeditor
  • using the services module - i.e. have one drupal site "talk" to another

curious to see what interests other folks have...

one more

one more topic to add here, though more germane to UCB/higher ed drupal folks...

  • CAS/LDAP drupal integration (i.e. single sign on)

#2, please

I put my vote for starting with your drush/drush_make presentation.

Berkeley group meetings

Hi, we'd love to present, but cannot on that day. Perhaps next time? We recently completed an award winning multi-install for UCSF that we'd love to share (we gave this presentation to the SF Drupal group a few months ago...) Link is here to learn more: http://www.project6.com/work/ucsf-student-academic-affairs-brand-print-w...

Where can I learn more about the Berkeley meetings? Is this the best place to keep informed? http://groups.google.com/group/berkeley-drupal/

When is the next meeting?

Thanks!

Thanks for your offer

I'll add you to my list of possible future presenters.

Yes, and I announce meetings on http://groups.drupal.org/berkeley and http://groups.drupal.org/bay-area.

I could come up and present

I could come up and present on the new features in Panels 3.7 and CTools 1.7 I think. I don't think I have the time to do a fantastic presentation, but I could do what amounts to a decent introduction and demo of some key features.

My vote goes to Panels and CTools

It would be fantastic to have Earl talk about the new features in Panels and CTools!
Would it be possible to touch on the status of Panels Everywhere as well?

It would be an honor!

Earl,

We'd love to have you! The time and place work okay for you?

Yeah, the time and place

merlinofchaos's picture

Yeah, the time and place should be doable. And I can cover Panels Everywhere a little bit, too. How much time should I shoot for for the presentation?

90 min

bwood's picture

The meeting is 90 min. We can shorten/skip our normal introductions part and jump right into the presentation. I'll go ahead an announce your visit to the group. Thanks again. Really looking forward to it.

If you are using a mac, bring a vga adapter

Or I can loan you my thinkpad. Looking forward to the presentation.

Could someone hook up a webcam?

I wish I could sit in for the Panels & CTools presentation, but the drive from Colorado might get me there too late... :p
