How to override node view with Panels 3

Hello,

I've been looking for information on how to override node view with a Panels 3. There is documentation with Panels 2, but the interface is different with Panels 3. I've found several other unanswered postings from other people looking for the same thing, so I'm wondering if someone here would be able to answer this for those of us who haven't figured this out. Thanks.

Visit administer - Panels.

  1. Enable the node template.
  2. Create variant.
  3. Decide which content type this node template should override by choosing selection rules - node type (select as desired)
  4. Choose layout
  5. Add content to panes by clicking in the right corner (Add Content.)
  6. Create Variant
  7. Visit a node

If you want to add views to the node template remember to add a NodeID argument to the view.

Applying rounded corners with missing content result

I tried to override the nodes, but does not seem to work. I do the following:

  1. Go to >administer>pages>
  2. enable Node template
  3. Create variant of node template
  4. selection rule: title= node type; description = Node being viewed is type "Page"
  5. go to content: add a content 'node being viewed body'
  6. click update

  7. look at node and it works.

  8. add rounded corners and update and save -> does not work
    result: deleted/missing content

Hence, when adding rounded corners, the node disappears.

Additional note on overriding node templates

f your node is another type of organic group (not the group content type) you will have to disable the group variant because it will overwrite yours. The reason is because it only looks for organic group nodes and you will have had to add an additional selection rule for your content type.
