Scotland barcamp -- venue ideas?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

So here we are at the October Drupal Drinks at The Lot in Edinburgh and we're all thinking we might just go for it and organize a barcamp for a Saturday afternoon and evening later this month.

Sadly, The Lot is all booked up. So we need your suggestions for venues!

(Duncan in particular: might anything be possible at the university?)

Great news!

I am too far away to be able to get to Edinburgh on a week night but I would definitely be up for something like this. Although probably not this time since I'm away the last two weekends in October. Still, just thought I'd register interest in the general principle from outside the regular meetup crowd. Hope it goes well enough to warrant another one!

Same here, been hoping to

Same here, been hoping to make one of these meetings for a year but it's tough getting across from Fife on a week night.

Yep

Count me in for this.

As I mentioned on Thursday evening, if it is at a weekend does it really need to be hosted in Edinburgh? If we could find facilities in the Central Belt then I don't think they should be discounted.

Definite Possibility

I can check out on Monday what is possible. We have hosted a BarCamp before so don't see to many issues. What dates were you thinking? Any idea of numbers? Would you looking to get catering as well? (I might be able to get some sponsorship for that side of things)

Any other specific facilities you would require? Wifi obviously but that is easily sorted.

Great! For dates we were

Great!

For dates we were hoping for a Saturday this month.

Numbers: no idea. DrupalCamp Manchester in spring 09 got about 80 people, but that was organized more in advance. My hunch is between 30 and 50 (which could be famous last words either way!).

If sponsorship for catering were possible, that would be fantastic. Though as it's a barcamp and by nature informal, if it were just every (wo)man for him/herself, or chip into a pot and order in pizza en masse, that would be fine too.

Keith said he can bring a projector, though more than one could be good.

So I guess what we mostly need is a space big enough to be able to comfortably split off into different groups, and wifi. Oh and lots of power sockets: big stack of extension leads!

I could bring two :)

Just discovered this group and would definitely make a big effort to attend any Drupal event in Scotland (I'm based in Glasgow).
