April Drupal Meetup Dates
I've been getting a lot of questions from people "how can I launch a small business store in Drupal?" and I can't help but think this would be a great presentation for our Richmond group. I'm thinking an evening later this month -- potentially Tuesday April 29 or Wednesday April 30 would be a great time to meet up and chat about the benefits of e-commerce in Drupal based platforms. Does anyone have a preference among these two dates?

Startup Weekend in Fredericksburg this weekend
Hi, everyone -- I hope that this is appropriate and, if not, please advise and I'll retract and not do it again. I wanted to pass the word that there is a terrific Startup Weekend happening this coming weekend (Jan 17-19) in Fredericksburg, VA. It'll be the second SW that has been hosted here and I was truly amazed by the quality and caliber of the first one, hosted last June. The venue (Germanna Community College is lovely and convenient). The food is good -- and there's plenty of food all weekend! The judges were amazing, great coaches, and a world-class facilitator.

Hey everyone!
Just a reminder that next week's Drupal Meetup will be an Intro to Drupal's Content Types and Views. This is perfect for all those folks that are new to Drupal and want to better understand why it's so powerful. For me personally, when I finally got my head wrapped around what could be down with Content Types and Views I suddenly understood why the system was so popular.
Never heard of Content Types and Views? No problem... you can read up on them here:

Setting a date for the next Drupal meetup, location to be determined. (Will update this post when it is chosen).
We'll keep this one informal due to the relatively low turnout at the last few events, probably at a coffee shop or bar. If you have location ideas or have something you'd be willing to present please chime in.
Thanks!

October Meetup - Thanks + Giveaway
Thanks to those that were able to attend the meetup last night - especially the two of you that traveled quite a ways to be there.
Because of the turnout numbers, next time I think we'll look at a more informal gathering at a bar/restaurant/coffee shop. I'll put a message out to the group early next month to see if there is any interest.
Also, completely forgot last night but I had a giveaway for our group provided by BuildAModule.com - a one month free gift card. The site provides access to a ton of Drupal video tutorials that range from basic to advanced development topics.

As more and more folks are adopting Drupal we need to broaden our reach to other developers and potential consumers of the Drupal CMS. In that spirit I crafted a site at http://www.drupalrva.org to funnel more folks into our growing community. Among the features that I think can be most beneficial to our community of developers in Richmond:
-Jobs Directory - If you or someone you know is seeking a Drupal professional in Central Virginia then this is the place to post the opportunity.

October Meetup?
Hey everyone. Hope you all had a good summer.
Wanted to gauge whether there was any interest in having a get together in October. I can host at WCVE and would be happy to present if nobody else is interested/able.
If you would be interested in attending, please comment here with a couple of dates in mid-October that would work for you. If we get at least 5 I'll go ahead and create an event.
Thanks!

Any Drupal-ers around Charlottesville and/or Harrisonburg
Hey all, I'm new to VA and wondering if any of you are north/west of Richmond, such as in Charlottesville or Harrisonburg?
Or do you know of other web design (e.g. BuildGuild) meetups in these areas?
Thanks! Or maybe I'll make it down to Richmond one of these months...

Hey Richmond Drupal folks,
It has been a while since we have gotten together. I know at the last meeting we discussed something more informal for our next get together, but the folks at INM United have offered to host a meetup and present a case-study on one of their recent Drupal projects.

I've received a lot of requests recently to do some training/education related to Drupal in the last month. The International Drupal Training Days are coming up on March 15th and considering the other conferences and meetups happening in Norfolk in mid-March I think it would be a great time do to a Drupal Intro training.
What do you guys think? Any volunteers to help out?

Hi folks,
I've personally found that Facebook groups area a great way for small communities to carry on conversations online and keep the creative energy flowing. Plus it's a fast and easy way to share resources, events, thoughts, etc.
We've set one up for this group here.
Right now it's a private group, so just request access and we'll let you in. Just want to avoid spammers getting in.
Thanks,
Josh

Drupal Ladder sprints?
Hey there!
I've probably met a few of you, but for the rest, I'm Brock Boland. I live up in DC, and I'm involved in the Drupal Ladder initiative: http://drupalladder.org
The gist of it is that we're working to get more people involved in contributing to core, with a goal of 1% of drupal.org users contributing to Drupal core by summer 2014.
There are two main ways that we're working to achieve that goal:
- Learn sprints, where we work through lessons on DrupalLadder.org
- Issue sprints, where we work on issues from the Drupal core issue queue
