Summer Training India

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.
This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

Interns participating in the Drupal Summer India Training program use this group to post updates on their projects and ask questions.

Your experience with Drupal

It would be nice if all the interns could write a couple paragraphs on themselves, what they then of the internship (till now) and on the drupal community

I would like to post this on www.drupal.in for others to see. Just to show others we are still active.

Profile Builder project

Drupal Profile Builder - work with Kieran Lal, CTO of CivicSpace Inc, to develop a profile builder tool that helps to build installation profile based based on the upcoming Drupal installation profile system for Drupal 4.8 to produce User Experience designs for Drupal distributions. The profile builder will make recommendation on roles, menu, modules, views, Information Architecture, and then export those design to .profile and a .install file. --Sanket

  1. Profiles consists of roles, menu, blocks, modules, views, themes, and content. Make a table to describe the contents of a profile.
  2. Install Drupal CVS and use the Profile system in the installer.
  3. Once you have a profile in a table I'll work with you to automatically configure a site profile

    Next plan of action

Ok so we have about 51 entries ( more like 45 if you dont count the duplicates). We now need to start sorting the entries and reviewing the resumes. I suggest splitting the work up and just making a note of people we want to short list. After we have this list we can just start calling them up.

I have entered the dates in to the Drupal India calendar so we know whats next.

Drupal.in is born, just needs a little grooming.

Whoo Hoo! Dupal.in is now alive. Planning on keeping the features to a bare minimum for now. Thanks to Tony of www.cityitsol.com for donating the domain. I am currently hosting the site on my server. I will create a few email lists over the weekend. Would be nice if some one could indianize the theme a bit. Also there are some issues with the friends electric theme ( on safari ). I will fix this later this weekend. You can currently use your @drupal.org id to login

Need to rush for a party. More updates later... :)

    Drupal.in

A while back I requested the owner of the Drupal.in domain for control. He obliged since we share the same goals. The drupal installation there is a bit dated. But I can just upgrade it to the latest version.

We can also just hack up a quick module for students to enter their resume and other information. This should make it easier for us to sort out at the end of this. We could also use this later on as a job board for students looking for internship and jobs related to drupal.

After all our goal is too keep them working and contributing to drupal.

Another thing I can prolly do is get colleges to assign drupal based projects, and adopt orphaned modules.

    Resources

For Goa: I have spoken to my friends out there. They are happy to help out. They are a small Drupal shop that cater to local businesses. They are willing to allow students to work from their office, and provide whatever other resources are required.

For Mumbai: I can speak to TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) and get them involved into it too. They too should be open to us using their facilities. I will mail them and ask for it. There are a couple other companies I can ask too, for people who dont want to travel (like me :D).

For Bangalore: I can talk to a bunch of companies there. Its more of a 50/50 situation since I dont know if they will be ok with it. due to the type of projects going on there. But there are others I can ask there.
