Libraryhack 2011 - Ideas Competition

Have you got a great suggestion for a new and innovative way to use library data but maybe not the technical skills to bring that idea to life? Submit an idea for an application or data mashup to be eligible for this prize. Your idea might then be developed by someone else as an application or mashup as part of Libraryhack. For inspiration have a look at the list of data sets to be made available by the participating libraries and from February 8, submit an idea. You can enter as many times as you like.

Project proposal: Help resuscitate the Upoming.org module

UPDATE: I've cross-posted this over at Drupal Dojo since there seems to be a few folks interested in collaborating and/or learning about this project.

In checking the status of the Upcoming.org module (http://drupal.org/project/upcomingorg), I noticed some familiar names from our Los Angeles group inquiring and/or offering assistance. Being that we've discussed this type of integration for some projects (ladrupal.org, local/media portal), maybe we can help KarenS resuscitate and expand the scope of this module (integrating additional event/ticketing portals)?

Upcoming.org module and other third party APIs

Here's the low-down on the upcoming.org integration module:

Per the developers description: The upcoming.org module enables you to import events and venues from upcoming.org and display them in a calendar using the event module. Upcoming.org is a website that helps you share and keep track of your events. Synchronizing (using upcoming.org as the master repository) is also supported. Additionally, this module exposes the upcoming.org REST API, making clients written to use it interoperable with Drupal. This makes it possible to build a whole network of websites sharing their events, all using a defined API.
