PHP Application Developer - Downtown Denver (job for a PHP Ninja?)

From Craigslist Denver

It's only partially Drupal related and I generally would prefer to know who I'm applying to rather than them using the anonymous service of Google, but hey, they want Drupal and CMS experience and that's here.

If you are interested, it's probably best to go to the Craigslist original post and respond via the mechanisms they have there.

Thanks.

A Follow-Up on Building Communities from the discussion at the last Drupal Meeting

For those of you who weren't able to attend this week's Drupal User Group Event, the main topic of discussion was community building.

I came across this article while reading over my blogroll today and felt it was on-topic enough to share with this group. It ventures a little bit into the area of users versus customers, but I believe many of the ideas are the same. An online community is a group of "browsers" and "members". To encourage movement from the "browser" to the "member" level, you much create a sense of belonging in the "browser".

Howdy,

It's time again for a Denver Drupal User Group meeting. In addition to the usual "talk about whatever you want" format, Betsy has some specific community portal questions that she's going to bring up for discussion.

Subject: Drupal, Q&A, Community Portal Stuff, Chatting

Location: Paris On the Platte (gmap)

Audience:Anyone who is interested in Drupal or has used it before. The Q&A and chats are what you make of them. Likely topics include BarCamp, "AJAX" and CCK and Views and your favorite changes that made it in before the code freeze (that is, September 1).

July Drupal Meetup in Denver

So...any ideas for the next meeting?

Daytime? Night-time? Weekend? Weekday? Or should I just play the old "pick one at random and see who shows up" game again :)

I'm currently thinking somewhere towards the end of July cause I'm a little busy at the moment, but that's just me.

June 11 Denver Drupal User Group Meeting

Start:
2006-06-11 06:30 - 09:00 America/Denver

Howdy folks,

For this meeting we are planning on having it on Sunday. Another change to the format is that we'll wait for topics for the meeting. So, come to the meeting prepared to say "I want to learn foo" and also be prepared for someone else to say "I want to learn bar" and then if you know "bar" - you can help lead the discussion on "bar". At the same time - if some other folks want to talk about Baz, then that conversation may happen at the same time. Foo, bar, baz, all at the same time - whatever those topics end up being is up to the folks who show up. If you want to learn "advanced stuff" just come with a question - certainly someone will be able to help figure it out.

Personally, my goal is to demo the new Civicspace installer (because that means I have to learn how to use it...:)

Subject: Drupal, Q&A, Chatting

Location: Paris On the Platte (gmap)

Audience:Anyone who is interested in Drupal or has used it before. The Q&A and chats are what you make of them. Likely topics include "AJAX" and CCK and Views.

Time: 6:30 PM for the regular meeting, I'll be there starting at about 5:00 or so to hold down a table, chat, hack, etc.

If this time/place doesn't work for you, please vote in the poll and leave a comment so we can figure out where to hold the next meeting. Also, recommendations for venues will be highly appreciated. Paris On The Platte seemed to work pretty well last times.

Call for Input - Next Denver Meeting

So, following on the last meeting summary and call for ideas it's time to schedule another meeting.

Will this be the month we actually have a meeting near Boulder? Perhaps this month we meet on a Sunday evening (free parking, fewer people will complain about work complications)?

And then also what will the topic be? I think that a quick demo of CCK and Views would be good. Another idea is that as we do the introductions at the beginning people could talk about "I want to see XYZ" and then break up into groups for a little while of people who are interested in seeing similar things. How does that sound?

Ideas for the next Denver Drupal Meeting

The second Denver Drupal meeting was held last night at Paris on the Platte. Greg Knaddision did an excellent job of heading this up.

After the presentation I gave last night, there were many questions concerning Drupal. As we look forward to the next meetup, I wanted to solicit feedback on a couple of different points. Please sign up and comment below. If you didn't attend last night or haven't ever attended a Denver Drupal meetup, please comment as well.

  • What additional topics would you like to see covered in a presentation?
  • With the wide variety of experience levels of attendees, were you able to get something out of the presentation even if you already were familiar with the topic? Would you like a more advanced presentation in the future?
  • Do you have any general comments about the format, time, place of the meetup?

Also, if you have additional questions relating to a Drupal topic that might not be a good candidate for a presentation, please post them in the comments and I will try to blog about them.
