Help

Hi there!

I am new to this group and am in the process of trying to put together a community site for students, past and present on an ordination course.

It would be good if it was possible for individuals to send an email to their own year group, or any other year for that matter, but I have been unable to work out a way of doing this within Drupal. I am looking at integrating mailman but have not got far on this yet as it is currently not available on my server.

I believe it may be possible to do what I want through groups. Has anyone done this?

Over at our church site we have a list of Bible QAs which was created using views. We want everyone to access to it. For some reason only admins do. But the content in the views can be access by anyone just not the actual page created with views. Looking at the access control I cant see any reason why everyone shouldnt be able to access it.

Any ideas here on what I could be missing?

We're starting a new site using Drupal, and I'll have many questions for your expertise, but one question I initially had was if you had any information how to do an annoucments page. Here is our current church website: http://annarbor.hmcc.net/

We want to do something similar on the homepage and also have a seperate page to do the annoucments. Anyone doing anything similar to that, that has a way of doing they could lend us? Thanks!

Does anyone know of a good setup for tracking church members, attendance, finances, etc. with all the bells and whistles that a church could use?

My first image was drupal with civicrm. Anyone have any experience with this? Or, know of something else?

Howdy everyone - Been on this group for a few months now. I have looked at several CMS's and tried to use several to develop a church website. After spending a little bit of time with Drupal and seeing other sites that use it, I am very interested in using it for our church.

Specing out a Web site within Drupal is a lot of work. I'm finding that I almost have to build the Web site first, before I can confidently write the spec. Anyone else have that experience??

I’m in process of doing a ton of research and testing in an attempt to put together a church distribution. I’d appreciate any comments/critiques/recommendations. I even have some unanswered questions that perhaps someone can answer.

The requirements for this church Web site are below. My comments/questions are in parenthesis underneath each listed requirement:

Sooooooo....How many of you out there are using forums on your church site? Is this a common request? With full community plumbing we can add comments to anything and make the site very open to hosting discussion, so what are the throughts on this? I'm leaning away from this for most churches.

What roles are you using on your church websites? OR what roles do you think are needed? I'm planning on sitting down and hacking some more on drupal for churches and want to get some place to start here, and I'll update my svn when I get to a critical point.

Basically I want to know what roles you need, and what other access control methods you are using? Are you using what built into views? Field level permissions with CCK? Taxonomy Access? Organic Groups? What are the basic roles and examples of the user permissions for those roles? And what is a typical user for each of those roles?

Hi - we're looking into different tools for creating our church's web site (internal and external). As part of our evaluation, we would like to try out the administrative tools - where the site is actually created, maintained, etc. for several relevant modules.

Does anyone know of a Drupal-based church site where we can create posts, etc. in the context of a working environment? I'm in the process of installing Drupal for evaluation, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.
