BADCamp Session Proposal Deadline: Sept 25th
Please submit your BADCamp session proposals by Thursday, Sept 25th (http://www.badcamp.net/node/add/session). We want to have enough time for attendees to vote their preferences, and then let the presenters know their time slots by the end of next week.
We will have a Birds of a Feather room available for sessions that don't get slotted in the official schedule.

Folks,
After talking with Tao at the last meeting I'm going to go ahead and start pulling together all the people who are interested in helping with our Fall BADCamp. First thing I'm going to do is make a round and talk to all those who helped with the last one and those who have already expressed an interest in helping out this time around. After that I'll likely schedule an organizational meeting so we can all get in the same room to work out details. Please stay posted here for more info as it develops. Please feel free to be in touch if you have any questions, either on- or off-line.
Regards,
Dan
Read moreThe status of BADCamp
Well we have about two and a half months until BADCamp, and I was wondering what the status of it was.
Are we sitting down and waiting for someone else to tell us what to do, or is something actively happening that I don't know about?
I can personally volunteer my time to the website, to which I can offer my skills (which are pretty everything Drupal related except for hosting and graphic design, but I can do theming).
If nothing is happening, the thing that's most urgent for us is probably choosing dates (October 10-11 or 11-12, or 10-12 probably), and finding a venue.

The discussion for BADCamp 08 got underway at yesterday's BDUG meeting. I followed up with one of our administrators to get the dates of weekends in late September - early November when space is available, and there is no Cal football happening on campus (so parking is less of an issue than it was last year). It seems like there are two prime dates: Sept 20th & 21st, and October 11th & 12th. Of these two I am leaning towards October, so we are not too close to DrupalCon Szeged (which is the last week of August).

Not only was the Bay Area Drupal Camp a successful gathering and a lot of fun, but it turns out it was also a successful fund raiser for the Drupal Association. Thanks to our generous sponsors and t-shirt sales, we raised $950 more than we spent putting on the camp. That money is now a holiday gift to the Drupal Association from BADCamp and the Berkeley Drupal Users Group. We hope some of this money will go to help groups with less access to corporate sponsorship put on regional camps of their own.
Once again, special thanks to Dan, Chris, Pete and Jen for all their work making BADCamp happen, and to Sun and OpenCircle Tech for the great after-party. Let's do it again next year!

Raincity Studios sent a trio of enthusiasts to Berkeley California for BAD Camp. This Bay Area Drupalist group put on a great event and we had a blast participating and enjoying the beautiful campus (alas not enough time outdoors enjoying the balmy weather).
In case you missed it, i published a smattering of posts before, during and after the event. Many are fortified with links to resources and sprinkled with conversation topics and general banter about the Drupal community.
